hhhhhhHHHGHGH~
(Nah but for real, I used PKHex and uhhhh got to Po Town hellll yeahhhhh~)
imo like.. if people hack and make their pokemon usable as long as they like warn people before i think it's fine. a lot of people don't have the time to perfect ev and iv train pokemon, as long as they don't do like broken moves and abilities and tell people before they battle.
This is going to be a growth moment for me…The old me (few years ago) would be super short and terse.TLDR: If your day-to-day is so busy that you don’t have time to breed, you don’t have time to play Pokémon (or any game for that matter).I’m going to make the generous assumption that most people currently subscribed to the “I hack because I’m too busy to breed” mentally haven’t actually tried to breed for 3-4 gens and are therefore GROSSLY overestimating the amount of time it takes. All of the mechanics for producing battle ready pokémon have been streamlined exponentially in the past decade or so (especially in 6th & 7th gen). Gather round kids, uncle Silva’s going to take you through it step-by-step:Natures: are passed from parent to child via an Everstone.
- if you don’t have an Everstone, see Appendix 1.
- if you don’t have a parent with the desired nature, go catch one using a pokémon with Synchronize.
- if the parent you need isn’t native to your game, or you don’t have a synchronize pokémon, see Appendix 2.
Individual Values (IVs): are passed from parent to child by using a Destiny Knot. Collectively, the parents have a total of 12 IVs, the Destiny Knot will pass 5 of these to each child randomly.
- if you don’t have a Destiny Knot, see Appendix 1.
- Incest… yes, you read that right, incest. If both parents are fairly lacking in the IV department, get everything else (nature, egg moves, ball, etc) lined up first, then swap the father for something in a compatible egg group with better IVs (if you don’t have a suitable candidate, see Appnedix 2). Within a few eggs you’ll likely have a female with drastically better stats. Replace the current mother with her. Repeat this 1-2 more times, and all the children should be consistently hatching with 4-5 perfect IVs.
- if you’re having trouble getting a particular stat to fall into place, the Power Items (power anklet, power band, etc) can be used in place of the Destiny Knot to guarantee the corresponding IV passes from parent to child.
- if all else fails, it’s 2018, Hyper Training is a thing.
Egg Moves: are (in most cases) moves a pokémon gets from having mixed parentage with a species other than its own.
- Egg moves can be passed from either parent.
- if you’re not sure what egg moves a pokémon has available, or are unsure as to where the move needs to come from, you can find that out by searching up the pokemon you’re breeding on Bulbapedia
- some moves have to be acquired in stages, or “chain bred” as it is sometimes referred to.
- if you don’t have have the pokemon needed for the move you’re looking for, see Appendix 2.
Effort Values (EVs): Using the combined effect of Pokérus, Power Items, and SOS battles, EV training is probably the fastest stage of the whole process.
- if you’d like an in-depth breakdown of this process, pick your favourite Pokétuber, there’s a good chance they’ve made a video about it.
- if you really are pressed for time, the Poké Pelago can be used to EV train multiple pokémon at once, without your DS even needing to be on.
That should be the basics. I may have left a few things out, feel free to message me with further questions.
If you’ve read this far, and are still of the “yeah I’d rather just hack ‘em” mindset, well… you’re kind of a shitty person, and you’re general lack of basic principles and dignity are probably effecting more aspects of your life than just Pokémon.
If you genuinely DO NOT have the infinitesimal amount of time required to play legitimately, you’ve got too much on your plate, and should seriously consider altering your lifestyle before you have a stroke, mental breakdown, or develop some other serious medical condition.

Might as well be upfront about it...
Some of the newcomers have already started digging up the posts.
Smogon and/or PKHexers and I don’t jive. Occasionally (not nearly as often as I used to) I’m gonna go on a tirade about it.
Take that information for what you will.
