House Guests

It was so good to have her own home now. And even better now that she could invite a spare few people over. And she absolutely loved this little Kalosian House. White with pale blue shutters and it’s humble but very comfortable furniture. She could have had a bigger house. Much more spacious and fancy. But that’s not what she’d wanted. 

This place was magical. In every sense of the word. Even if it didn’t attract attention. And the ponderous backyard and additional land beyond that in the form of the old vineyard though made up for the lack of glitz and glamour that her life as a Famous singer would be expected to have reflected in her home. This was a very pretty property and she was Very proud to call it her own. 

Right then, on this lovely cool Friday evening she was in the kitchen preparing some snacks for a couple of guests that should be arriving via her Xatu Amadeus. They should be arriving any minute.

The police chief looked up to his Pokemon with widened eyes and uttered with a snarl, “We’re going to Balia.. Now. She needs us.”

With Karen’s help, Michael returned his Pokemon and teleported to Kalos. Specifically right at Balia’s apartment. He didn’t care for the weakness. His heart was guiding him, whether it was from the hatred, the trauma, the panic, whatever it was, Michael kept walking in, searching for her, “Balia! Balia!”

Until finally he found her on her bed, paled, sweating, and looking like she was unconscious...but still there. “Balia-!” Michael rushed over to her and commanded to Karen, “Help Tetra.! Start the water, I-I’ll stay, use healing pulse too-!! Everywhere!”

From his pokeball, his Kingdra popped out, shaking her head. “Tetra, start the water, freeze it, and crush it, she’s burning up! Go!”

The Kingdra floated off, along with the Gardevoir. Vice, his Leafeon popped out and immediately tried to get ice and cold things from the fridge. James, the Sandslash, joined him at once. This was life or death for Michael, and they all felt it.

“Stay with me.. Balia… “ Michael held her hand in his, collapsed to his knees, and keeping track of her pulse, “D-doctor...Doctor…!” He knew of only one who could...given how special Balia was…

He swallowed his pride and immediately called the one person he never thought he needed help from.

Barnes.

Immediately, the chief dialed the phone number, “Barnes? Barnes!”

Truth: How do you feel about Ray and Barnaby, Miss Balia?

Balia: They are both not great people. But Barnes doesn’t feel like my blood Father; like how Rey does. Rey looks at me… and Michael like we’re a toy he really wants to play with but can’t yet. Not like we’re people. He’s done some horrible things. And there’s a complexity to it that I can’t describe. It makes me sorry for him in a way.

I don’t want to be around him anymore than I have to. And if I ever feel his presence again and I don’t know why he’s in the area? I’m going to go the other way.

Barnes? He’s done bad things too. I can feel that. Like I can feel what a person is feeling, and if they are lying to me. But he doesn’t feel as bad as Rey. And His personality makes me inclined to like him. 

Doing bad things, especially to other people leaves a… um.. stench…. for lack of a better word, on a person. And anyone sensitive like me and my sister’s are to it… well it’s like a warning bell.

It was easy enough to get this Rocket Uniform. This wasn’t the first time he broke into Team Rocket as a grunt! Just all too easy..and besides he wasn’t a cop anymore. AND he wanted to ask Barnes a question. First, about the party-and second, about watching the twins! 

The first place to go? To Rey’s office. He knew where he was, right? 

Baxter knocked at the scientist’s door and opened the door, “Reynold..?”

Reynold’s relationship with Team Rocket at the moment had been..a love/hate relationship. Between not letting Barnes rest up a bit more, to just letting others Mega evolve any of their pokemon without precaution..and yet he still loved the organization. It was all very mixed up. At least he was able to assist Barnes in this strange mission to Unova. 

The mission? Explore a hideout for more mega stones. Great. More stones to hurt their people. Oh well...he was paid well, too.

Arriving there was no problem, even if Rey had trouble trying to switch to a Unovian dialect, but eventually they found themselves at the warehouse. They started to inspect the place very promptly. It was really run down, but it definitely looked like it could hold some sort of treasure of the sort. It was really strange. 

Taking a deep breathe and holding onto Holly in his arms, and making sure King was nearby he turned to Barnes, “Shall..we split up or stay together--” The scientist gasped, “F-for the mission! Not..not personal..I’d never..you know..” He blushed, looking away a little bit.
