Planning Center Online Basics
In the following video it shows.. how to make a new plan on planning center, how to link songs, how to add slide information and then finally how to schedule someone.
We need to be organised and prepared as the church. Planning centre helps our production and worship team massively. It shows the structure of each event clearly and it allows the team to see when they are scheduled for.
It also helps the person scheduling people, because if the person they schedule declines, then they will be able to see this. This then gives them time to find another person to fill in their position!
We would love everyone to be using planning center for their campuses. It's extremely helpful and it will help avoid making everything more complicated than it needs to be.
Thanks very much, I hope this video was helpful to you!
It’s Sunday night and you are trying to coordinate an end-of-the-year party for the high school ministry on Wednesday. You’ve sent reminder emails to parents regarding what food to bring, individually called your co-leaders to determine who is available to help set up, and sent a group text to your students for game suggestions. Wouldn’t it be a lot easier if all of this communication could be done in one place?
Every church leader understands the struggle of trying to keep their members organized. Whether it’s coordinating potlucks or keeping your Bible Study group on the same page, important information can get lost among all the texts & emails. Planning Center, a church management software company, has created a web based application called Groups to attempt to curb this problem. However, we at BAND believe that our product is able to give you everything you need to manage your small groups & boost member interaction without burning a hole in your wallet.
1. BAND is FREE
Planning Center charges you monthly based on the number of members you have. They have a free 30 day trial, but upon completion the minimum amount you can pay is $14/month. These amounts are on top of the other applications you may already pay for, including services, giving, and check-ins. BAND is FREE regardless of how many members you have, and while it may not have the ability to work with Planning Center apps, it provides an extremely affordable option for keeping your group members organized.
2. Multi-direction communication vs. One-direction announcement
Planning Center allows leaders to share event information with members, but lacks a space for member engagement. BAND’s Community Board & Notices provides area to share important info as well as other features that encourage collaboration. We want your online interactions to mimic your group’s offline relationships. (L: Leader, M: Member)
3. Instant & Intimate Communication on BAND
In Planning Center, the only way to communicate with members is through email. BAND has multiple forms of in-app communication including private/group messages & group calls. Our push notification settings allow you to only receive alerts from the conversations you want to be apart of.
4. Organizational Tools
Just like Planning Center, BAND has calendars and file sharing for groups. What sets our app apart is that all members of the group not just the leaders/admins have the ability to create to-do lists & photo albums.
5. Leadership & Membership
Within each group, Planning Center has leaders & members. The leaders are only able to post content related to calendar events, share files, and email other members. BAND offers a more organic structure to organize your groups with three types of authority: admin, co-admins, & members. The admin is in control of all the group’s settings and can assign privileges to other leaders as co-admins. So if you run a youth group with 3 other leaders, you can give them certain administrative abilities over other members. This empowers your co-leaders with the authority to do their job and boost efficiency.
