New project: Plastic Diet
First, I stumbled upon this BBC podcast on Landfills and their impact on Wildlife
Second, I started to clean my apartment after having a guest over for 2 weeks.
The amount of plastic bags, plastic bottles and plastic packaging I came across up is shocking.
I've been living here for only 2 months, and have spent a majority of my weekends being a tourist and away from Paris. And said guest and bff only really bought books, dessert and clothing (each of which came wrapped in plastic).
I don't live with family or roommates, and to have accumulated so much plastic waste on my own is pretty shocking. Literally - I am the only one buying things and bringing them into this flat. And, I live in Paris - a city that's way more environmentally conscious than Bombay or Boston (and definitely Guangzhou).
Now This all happened to coincide with my decision to go on a 14 day sugar diet (detox + lack of exercise due to Parisian wet autumns + lack of money due to being a prolific tourist).
So, I've decided to go on a 14 Day Sugar AND Plastic diet.
My last project - to run a half marathon - was fantastically successful and I seem to have inspired a lot of people to run (seriously, A LOT of people are stunned that I did it, and realized that if I can, they can too).
Stay tuned for posts on 'What is a Plastic Diet' (do yourself a favour DON'T google it) and to learn more about plastic (there's really only so much you can google about sugar if you've been on/off/considering a diet since you were 18).
Comments, tips and links are very welcome. I haven't really define what a plastic diet is just yet.
