Turtle Environment Science

Tilly the Turtle swims through the air, atop a column of waste plastic. She’s on display outside the Brynmor Jones Library at the University of Hull, where she featured in the British Science Festival and then the Hull Science Festival.

At 3.5m tall, this Trash A’Tuin is an impressive sight… even if it is technically a rubbish sculpture.

No plastic straw today 💕Frappaccino no nasties 💕 Last week's unbelievable discovery that three high street chains @starbucks @costacoffee and @caffenero had faecal matter found in their Iced drinks is more reason than EVER to make your own🙈🤢💩 It's not just loads of sugar and additives to avoid. Save yourself some cash AND keep that #plasticfreejuly on track. No plastic straw or cup to go. Read my post from Saturday on why I'm trying to switch up my plastics. Today's tip for my #plasticpledge is getting hold of reusable straws if you need for your kids. Bamboo and steel straws are endlessly reusable and won't end up in the ocean. Link in bio to check out some glass ware to go and straws that won't suffocate the fish. All your tips are so helpful. I'm on day 3 so do keep em coming. How is your plastic haul looking so far? Mine is definitely shrinking. We can do this. 👌🏻
