We took part in a beach clean today to help try and rid our beaches from some of the phenomenal amounts of plastic and rubbish being left there. It’s estimated that we eat up to 11,000 tonnes of micro-plastics a year, with 80m metric tonnes of plastic expected to be found amongst our seas by 2025 if changes aren’t made. Anyone can get involved in helping to protect our shores, and no act is too small to not make a difference. There’s so many creative ways to curb rubbish ending up in our environment or in landfill too, with items being reused and recycled to create entirely new objects and artwork, which is something we aim to explore in the community arts workshops we do.
