And here is the process of how we build Jack, the Pumpkin monster!

Jack was made just for Halloween and he is a Mimick type monster which disguised itself as a pumpkin in order to snack on little children’s feet if they would walk past him. Sneaky little bugger! He was featured in our 2016 Halloween give away event on Facebook and now he has a nice homely life with a new family.

Details on the actual building process under the cut!

I created the bulk of the creature using EVA foam floormats, like the ones used in cosplay armors. Seeing as there was no pattern that I could follow, this was quite a tedious process of trial and error in order to get the rough pumpkin shape in this sturdy material.

Once the main body was made and equipped with nifty finger rings to control the mouth, I grabbed a piece of leftover fabric to figure out how big the tentacles should be and how many Jack should have. These were then remade in faux fur to give the monster a slightly more huggable appearance. After all, a monster isn’t always all slime and goop!

Then I grabbed a good pile of Plastimorph and heated it up, sculpting the 13 teeth to fit in the monsters mouth. These would restore some of Jack’s pride as a ferocious creature, filling his grin with sharp and pointy bits!

I coated the EVA foam body with a few layers of Plastidip and let it dry for a day, after which I painted it with acrylic paints. The teeth were coated with a plastic primer before I painted them, to make sure that the paint wouldn't fall off. Last but not least, I sealed everything with clear non-shiny varnish. 

The fabric tentacles were filled up with plush stuffing and a piece of metal wire to make it posable. Finally I glued the hard and soft body parts together, making sure that everything was neatly finished. 

And that is how we made Jack, the Pumpkin monster! Just 364 more days till next halloween!

making a bunch of small details out of plastimorph for my Thorunn cosplay! Surprisingly making alot of work on this cosplay the past few days! I’m now waiting for mod podge to arrive and i’ll be done with her two armor peices! Then i just need to make her shirts, and sword

Oh man, these posters are really starting to drain me, but I still like how it came out!
