Platform Dependency
When a startup is platform dependent they have 2 final roads: 1. To be squashed or 2. To be acquired.
Meerkat fit into both. It was almost squashed, and then acquired.
MCN’s in their early days could’ve easily been squashed... and still can.
Youtube can just say, creators we’ll offer you 70% instead of your MCN rate. And POOF - there go LA’s stallions - the “MCNs”.
Anything reliant and feeding off of something bigger obviously can be destroyed or swallowed. Just something obvious to realize in building a startup.
