God damn this is fucking crisp! I was going to try and make a joke about it but I can’t stop drinking long enough to make one so fuck it. Anyways, I understand that Cleveland left Family Guy for a while to do his own thing and it didn’t really work out but do we have to go around calling him New Cleveland now just because he moved back to Spooner St.? I mean, he’s basically the exact same character but just a little more annoying now so maybe we can just go back to how it used to be. I’m actually going to go out on a limb here and say that this beer is not named after a Seth McFarlane character but instead for the city in which it is brewed and packaged. I don’t think I’ve ever really ventured too far into Cleveland with the exception of playing a few gigs there but from what I’ve seen I was a fan of just like I’m a fan of this delicious brew. A super crisp floral hop explosion starts things off before some light caramel and almost honey like sweetness mixes in before ending with another sharp bite and bitter hop flavor to wrap things up. This really is an exceptional example of a style that really never gets the TLC that it deserves so I’d have to highly recommend picking this up especially if you are new to the craft scene. Pros, don’t fucking test me with your trivial questions and just get your ass out there and pick this up already. Jeesh!

Well fuck, I see the rampant rise in racism has finally found it’s way into the craft beer world. Back in the good ol’ days it used to just be about flavor, drinkability, smell, and how it made you feel on the inside but now we are brewing beers based on race? Well I guess it’s a good thing I’m white because I get to drink this delicious white IPA from Platform and also drink from the cleaner water fountain out in public. White just refers to the grain it’s brewed with? Water fountains aren’t segregated anymore? Where the fuck have I been for the past 45 years? I guess that makes sense considering Rachel from The Bachelor made it to the final 4 so I guess things really have gotten better (even though they really haven’t but that’s a rant for another day). Platform has continued to amaze me with what they are capable of and even though I’m only a few beers into their lineup I can confidently tell you that they rule. That light bulb in their logo has to represent how many fantastic ideas they have come up with for beers because everything I taste is just as unique and delicious as the last. This particular beer has a nice subtle floral start to it with a soft bitter and sweet mixture before loads of citrus joins in the middle bringing a more substantial bitterness along with it before ending with some pine, resin, mango, and a little more sweetness from the trifecta of wheat added to this scrumptious brew. I’m really hoping that this beer’s name doesn’t suggest that their is actual speed in this because that would make things too damn literal and also I’m way to lazy to have that much energy in a single day. Regardless, this is definitely a solid starting point for newcomers due to it’s amazing range of hop flavors and session-ability so make sure you grab one of these simple yet awesome looking cans ASAP. For the veterans to the drinking game, pick this up and pour yourself a glass tonight because this is a super solid sipper that you don’t want to miss out on. Enjoy!

The Project - El Dorado (Platform)

Ok, so this is my first beer from Platform and I must say… HOLY SHIT! This is a fucking amazing beer and if the others are even close to this I am in for a treat just like I was in for a treat when I wandered in to the women’s locker room at the local gym. Wait, that wasn’t a treat, it was a felony. My mistake. Anyways, Platform has officially earned a place in my heart with this one starting with a super smooth almost melon like flavor before some mild oniony hops and floral bitterness mix in with some citrusy notes before wrapping up with a light sweetness and a light and clean aftertaste. I was originally a little worried that the beer wouldn’t be able to live up to the awesome of the simple can it came in but it turns out that there was nothing to fucking worry about because this beer is amazing. If you are looking for an APA that sports some bold flavors but is still sessionable enough to polish of a 6 pack with ease, pick this project up because it kicks more ass than a soccer player on a donkey farm. That was dumb. Regardless, this is the perfect beer to bust your hop-hymen with and also a perfect beer for you craft-a-holics so make sure you snag a can ASAP.

High Brow Barista (Platform)

Ugh, the high brow fancy pantsy barista. These are the people who spend more time making lotus flowers and other stupid fucking designs in my coffee while pouring half a gallon of milk into it instead of serving it at a reasonable pace. I don’t need to see a god damn art exhibit to start my morning when all I really want is an overly sweet cup of caffeine to get my ass in gear. Now that I got that off my chest, let’s get to this delicious beer instead. This is my first beer from Platform so I decided to start with something a little out of the norm and even though these coffee IPAs and APAs are becoming a bigger thing, few breweries do it as well as these guys have done. A fresh coffee flavor starts things off with a great roasty-ness and bitterness before some floral hops join in with the rye adding both a spice and bitter burst to the strong coffee flavor before ending with more of that mouth watering fresh brewed coffee flavor to close. The addition of rye in this is definitely what sets this beer apart from others because it adds a depth of flavor that I haven’t really had in this style before today. When it comes to starting my mornings, I would love to start it with this everyday but as I’ve said before, that is highly frowned upon and due to the fact that I already walk a thin tightrope between addiction and hobby, I don’t want to push my luck any further. If you want to taste a super interesting brew that pushes the limit of what APAs are capable of, pick this up and enjoy because as long as you like coffee this beer will appeal to all levels of drinkers regardless of your experience.
