Platinum Perspective: Patch 3.15
Items
Spirit of the Spectral Wraith/Elder Lizard: These items are both really good now. The conservation is sooooooooooo much better than the bonus gold on kills and assists since there's much more reliable payoff this way. This opens up more options for AD offtanks like Vi, Wukong, and Jarvan, not to mention being great on carry junglers like Kha'Zix, Gragas, and Evelynn. Unfortunately, Wriggle's is still horrendous.
Support Items : Basically, Ancient Coin is the way to go. It has the most reliable and consistent gold generation along with an awesome active on the upgraded version. It's great for gold, engaging, disengaging, and moving around the map. Relic Shield is still alright on some champions like Alistar, Taric, and Leona. The gold generation is awful if you're being zoned, but if you're ahead it can snowball the lane with all of the sustain it gives. The active on the upgraded version isn't as universally good as Ancient Coin, but the heal can come in handy in some situations. The only problem here is that going Ancient Coin with a Mikael's Crucible is a much better option if the heal is the only thing you want. The Spellthief's Edge (if that's what it's called) is never in option if your team is reliable. However, if you're playing Annie or Zyra in solo queue and plan on going a damage build, the AP is nice.
Trinkets: Always start with a yellow trinket. The ward is the best choice for early game in pretty much every case. For junglers and supports, transitioning into a red trinket shortly into the game is great since you can be buying real wards the whole time without problems. Lategame, if ahead, everyone on the team can buy the red trinket and just sweep the map of wards to catch the enemy off guard and close things out. The blue trinket still sucks, as it relies on guesswork and isn't very consistent compared to the yellow trinket or a real ward.
Champions
Jinx: I think Jinx is the strongest ADC at the moment. She has good cc, great poke on zap, a global-execute-aoe explosion-ultimate, range and aoe autos or attack speed buff on her q, and a reset passive. She pretty much does everything you could ask for in an adc. What makes her balanced is that she's vulnerable to assassins due to no huge gap extender and her burst isn't quite as much as someone like Lucian or Corki.
Kassadin: Kassadin is pretty much going to be op until they overnerf him. He has a low cooldown, massive range blink, great silence, a huge slow, an AP-scaling autoattack buff, and can pretty much one shot any squishy even if hes 0-6. If you're playing solo queue, ban Kassadin.
Dr. Mundo: Right now, Mundo is nearly as overpowered as Kassadin in soloqueue. He builds straight tank and still deals ridiculous amounts of damage while never dying. If you focus Mundo, he MIGHT die while his team kills all of your players. If you don't focus Mundo, he kills your entire team by himself. He's a huge problem lategame.
Shyvana: Shyvana is pretty similar to Mundo. She gets insanely tanky in her ultimate form and still deals great damage thanks to her E. It's nearly impossible to peel a Shyvana off of your adc and if you don't focus her down you can kiss your squishies good-bye.
Evelynn: Evelynn is still the same strength when it comes to teamfighting as before, but the vision changes have made her early-to-midgame incredibly strong. If you buy a pink to stop her from ganking, she just kills it since it's not invisible. You spend 100g to avoid one gank. Early kills can snowball her and her team to victory, but bullying her around with a jungler like Lee Sin or Kha'Zix can prevent that from happening.
Ziggs: Ziggs is looking to be one of the strongest AP carries in the game. He wins most lane matchups with his spammable, high damage poke and can roam for kills pretty efficiently with minefield and satchel charge. If he has a lot of peel from his team, he will be doing a ton of damage and you won't be able to touch him. 6-item Ziggs has the highest sustain damage in the game along with Kog'Maw, and if he can hit his q's you can't stop his siege. I do think he's balanced, though, as champions like Leblanc and Vi can really abuse him throughout the game since he only has one high-cooldown escape.
Kha'Zix: Kha'Zix has always been strong, but what's making him more notable now is that he can jungle really well. He has great ganks thanks to the burst and his invading is unrivaled thanks to the isolation damage. If a Kha'Zix has good game knowledge and teamfight positioning, he can destroy an entire team.
Annie: Annie support is incredibly good with the bonus gold supports gain. She already has great base damage on her spells, but now with AP items, support Annie can truly carry a game. She is perhaps the best laning support thanks to her stun and burst, opening up easy kills once she hits 6.
Riven: Riven is still a huge problem. Her burst damage is huge, but this still isn't the issue. Typically with assassins like Kha'Zix or Zed, you can focus them down since they're mostly single target and aren't very tanky. Riven on the other hand deals MASSIVE aoe damage and is nearly unkillable. She has 4 miniflashes to get around and her shield is beyond broken. It has a miniscule cooldown and scales off of building straight damage. Getting tanky by building damage is inherently a broken mechanic and it is why Ryze (although he got damage by building tanky) has been nerfed and remade multiple times. Anyone can play riven and spam their buttons and do well, but a really good riven is terrifying.
Rengar: Rengar is still incredibly good even after the nerfs, especially in soloqueue. His snowball potential as an assassin is massive as he can 1 shot any squishy in less than a second. Even if he builds tank, he still has great base damages and can be an unkillable monster. Either way, his q auto attack reset and attack speed buff makes him shred towers and can take out two turrets and an inhibitor before you even noticed he was in a side lane.
Wukong: Even back into my bronze-baddie days I have always thought that Wukong was underplayed and never really knew why. Now that I've been playing him, my previous opinion has only been enforced. While his early game isn't very good, being slightly behind can be made up for with his ridiculous lategame scaling thanks to his ultimate. With black cleaver and 5 levels in Q, Wukong can shred 55% of a targets armor for his team and then has additional armor penetration of his own. He also has a very flexible build, as he can be a tank, assassin, or something in between. Without items, Wukong is decent and can be a good peeler for his carry. With items, Wukong can easily 1v3 the enemy mid laner, support, and adc while his team kills the jungler/top laner.
