Fulvia Plautilla

Today I went to the Getty Villa and they have an extremely rare bust of Caracalla's wife, Fulvia Plautilla.

In 202 AD Caracalla married Fulvia Plautilla, daughter of Fulvius Plautianus, who became praetorian prefect. After the downfall and death of her father, in 205 AD, Plautilla was sent into exile: "Severus sent the girl and her brother to Sicily, providing them with sufficient funds to live in comfort there" (Herodianus III,13,3). Dio specifies Lipari, an island a bit to the north of Sicily (76,6,3). After the death of Geta, Caracalla ordered the death of Plautilla and her brother Plautius Hortensianus.

Grazie alla testimonianza dell'autore della scritta, sappiamo che ''da qualche parte, tra le fondamenta di Villa Benedetta c'è ancora la lamina di piombo che reca scritto il nome di chi la disegnò, la progettò e la costruì'': Plautilla Bricci, architettrice appunto della villa detta del Vascello sul Gianicolo nel 1663. Di lei, per secoli, non si è saputo più nulla (ANSA)

Non importa chi sei e da dove vieni, per realizzare un sogno devi crederci veramente: "L'architettrice", la vita vera e romanzesca di Plautilla Bricci, prima donna architetto nella Roma di Bernini e Borromini

Buste de Fulvia #Plautilla (#Plautille), épouse du jeune #Caracalla quand ils avaient tous les deux 14 ans. Une fois Empereur, #Caracalla pris le parti de sa mère contre le père de Fulvia: il le fit donc assassiner, répudia Fulvia, puis l'exila aux îles Lipari et la fit finalement elle aussi assassiner.
