Playground Equipment Workouts for Lats and Biceps
Do you find yourself stuck on the road, or perhaps at your home together with your little ones, and unable to hit the gym on back and biceps day? Don't panic! Below you will be introduced to a simple and painless solution to hit your lower back, and really get some thickness. For this workout you only need some playground monkey bars.
The first movement you will be doing is going to be broad grip pull ups.
These will fill the muscle groups on the back with blood flow and really bring some 'pop' out of your back muscle tissue group. You will want to complete a total of fifty or so repetitions for your back. You should use several, or as few, sets as suitable. Have varying reps in each set as you can manage each set. As long as your final amount reaches the actual total amount describes earlier. In the near future, you could possibly knock out the full reps in a single set of pull ups. If and when that day comes, it's probably time for you to bump up your reps to a number much higher.
Next you will complete a motion which involves grabbing the bar as if you were going to complete a pull up, and then hanging with your back muscle flexed for several minutes. You'll want to complete a total of 10 minutes of hanging flexing action, broken into as many chunks as required.
The last activity, will be under grip pull ups for biceps.
You'll be performing around 100 motions, since they are easier than the overhand grip assortment that you accomplished before. With each rep, flex your biceps and feel the extent of the motion. Don't swing your legs. Strive to maintain your form as perfectly as possible.
There you go! Only 3 workouts needed to blast your back muscles. You only need your body weight. Lifting at a gym facility is preferable for gaining mass, but when life gets too busy to dedicate alot of time at the gym, one can easily improvise at the playground using playground monkey bars for a quick and effective back and biceps boost!
Last Week's Workouts
Last Week’s Workouts
Last week’s workouts had me feeling a little bit of a spark that’s been missing in the past month. My plantar fasciitis is improving (a lot!) and the humidity has decreased. Things are looking up! So much so that I started to think that I might actually be able to run some of the races I have my eye on this fall. I don’t want to jinx anything but there’s hope!

Getting back into the swing of things
I was so good about working out on the mission trip, but I've had trouble getting back to my routine, first while house-sitting, and now that I'm back home. That ends today. (I've been getting in some exercise, just not as much as I want. I want to get stronger, not maintain the status quo.)
Doing my Supreme 90 Day Cardio workout, then skateboarding/walking to the playground for some upper body strength training. Part of my issue was that I tweaked my left shoulder again (rotator cuff) at the playground last week -- not on the pull-ups, monkey bars, or flexed arm hang, but afterwards, while testing my vertical leap (which is still not ready for testing -- need to get the knee stronger). There's an inclined bar that has every vertical foot marked off, and somehow tapping that tweaked the shoulder. Here's hoping the shoulder is well enough for me to get some stuff done today (though I'll be going easy).
I need to get back to doing daily prehab (shoulder dislocations, and band pull-aparts). It only takes ~5 minutes, so it's silly not to do it.

No need for expensive gym memberships and no need to have someone look after the kids. This one is the first of a series of fitness videos Amber will be bringing you in the new season 2013.
