I say go for it! It’s one of our favorite things to do together, since Pokémon is the one game we both love.
If you aren’t sure how we do it, we just hang out together, playing the opposite version of the same game. Sometimes I have to catch up to him, & vice versa - sometimes we make trades when we want a friend who isn’t in our version. It’s fun! ^_^
(Example from our Sword x Shield adventure! The first game we actually played together was just replaying XY at his place, but when Sword & Shield came out, he got me a whole Switch so we could play it together!)
