DxP REWRITE - Master Post

“Diamond x Pearl REWRITE” is both a “rewrite” of BDSP & a second story in the Hisui region of old involving my & my husband’s trainers, Ansy & Ikrit, along with their ancestors Mizumi & Sasmu, as they travel along with a pair of familiar monochromatic train twins.

The title “REWRITE” also refers to how in both Diamond & Pearl as well as Legends Arceus someone wanted to “rewrite” the world, & how this story reimagines modern Sinnoh if it included more from Legends Arceus (among other things, hehe).

A personal rant about why I dislike the inclusion of Celestica/Volo in PLA, or rather, the way it was used

If you’re expecting a nicely organized essay, move along. This is one giant brain dump that has been percolating in my brain for months, and I just needed to get it out.

Volo and Celestica are interesting in Pokemon Legends Arceus. And by interesting, I mean “why the hell are you here?”

I remember going into the more aesthetic reasons for why I thought the Celestica people were Greek / Roman while feeling a bit stumped on the historical /cultural context (best I thought of was the Silk Road & Alexander the Great)

Didn’t think it’d go this deep. 🏛️

Like, clearly they went for a Western look for Cogita, Volo wearing a toga in that last act (both names being Latin, so maybe it’s more Roman, or they combined these similar cultures in the Pokémon world?).

Either way, it does smell of colonialism. :/ I never liked how the residents of Jubilife in particular called us “outsider” - the Clans, sure, but the town full of immigrants themselves calling us an “outsider” (is it “gaijin” in Japanese?) feels hypocritical.

Oh well. I kinda saw this sort of thing coming, with Japan’s habit of just breezing over all the bad things they did through their imperialistic history (much like my own country). 😔

There is the question though: what’s the deal with Celestic Town? It has an obviously Japanese shrine with an old cave depicting Sinnoh’s Legendaries where you meet Cynthia’s grandma as well as Cyrus. Anything Grecian has been all but erased. o.o

I guess we’ll never know.

Hero of Bombs - Dragon Sets

Hehe >u< After drawing Link in the Charged Set, I had the idea of drawing the other two wearing the other guardian dragons’ fits presumably when they were still Zonai.

⚡️ Charged Set - Farosh’s clothes that grant an attack boost during thunderstorms. Looking at the design Link wears very well, we can guess Farosh was a fierce & Courageous warrior.

🔥 Ember Set - Dinraal’s clothes, gives an attack boost when the air is burning. Maybe it’s drawing it on Ingo, I wonder if Dinraal was a Powerful monk or priest.

❄️ Frostbite Set - Naydra’s clothes, gives an attack boost during freezing temperatures. From the graceful design & extra skin showing (much to my embarrassment >A<), I think Wise Naydra was maybe a dancer?

Jirachi’s currently snoozing in Pokopia, but they’ll wake up tonight to gather our wishes, & if it doesn’t rain tomorrow, it means they brought them up to the star-crossed lovers who cross the Milky Way every year on this night. 8u8

It’s funny - on my first not-canon run of BDSP, I did actually use Jirachi because we get them for free at level 5 in Floraroma Town with a save in Sword / Shield. Kinda like Kubfu, I didn’t feel so bad using a Legendary when they come in at level 5, & grows organically on my team. It was fun! ⭐️

I got their little house ready in Pokopia (though I’m thinking of making it a bit bigger - they are a Legendary after all ouo Maybe add an observatory?)

💙: So. This chapter. Might be my favorite? The gorgeous setting, the deep story with Asgore in the background etc. Also the additional depth for Ralsei & his character.

💙: I struggled ‘cuz I’m a goober who just jumped right in without getting a refresh on how the game worked & stuff (except the platforming parts - years of experience for those games paid off lol). Might go back & see if I missed any friends to recruit.

💙: Not sure when I can draw anything about this, but it’s happening. Blue & Aqua absolutely. 0u0

HoB The Fifth Sage - Thunderhead Isles

Journal Entry X/XX - Mr. Link donned a ceremonial garb of the thunder dragon, & made an offering at the altar deep in Faron, following the winding track that is Dracozu River. Lightning struck, & opened a path through the clouds to the Thunderhead Isles.

Rain & lightning stormed down constantly around & above us as we carefully made our way up. Mr. Link’s clothes glowed in the storm - it would seem his clothes had a “weather effect”, granting him greater Attack. As for Miss Ansy, she crept nervously close to us, as she often did when lightning was in the air.

Nevertheless, her Topaz Rod proved super effective against the “Gear Constructs” we encountered, using the many rain puddles to her advantage. She mumbled something about how it shouldn’t be “normally”, but that fire wouldn’t work with all the rain.

Questions for later. For now, follow the schedule.

another heatwave PSA

⭐️ I’m NOT sharing this for internet points, do not give me internet points - I just wanna raise awareness.

So the heatwave has reached us over here (gonna be like 98-100+ 🫠). No worries about us though - we’ve got good AC at home & at work, I’m making cold hiyashi ramen tonight, got my “sunbrella”, etc.

It’s still unbearably hot when I go outside though, so I wanted a smoothie. I went to this one place, & found they had no AC - all they had was a fan / open door, & it was very hot in there. 😥

If you come across a place / business with no AC in this heat, here are a couple things you can immediately do to help if you feel up to it:

Ask what the situation is.

Call the shopping center &/or general manager or owner of that location as a concerned customer.

Make a post online to raise awareness of the situation (keep it simple with nothing accusatory - just like “this place has no AC”)

If you’d like to bring them some water or something to help them stay hydrated / cool, just call ahead to see if they have rules about it or whatever.

(This one didn’t happen, but just to emphasize) if someone is having a medical emergency aka a heat stroke / fainted, call 911!

I know that even doing 1-2 of these things would’ve helped, so if you don’t feel comfortable &/or can’t put yourself out there that much, don’t worry about it, ‘kay? Any small thing you can do helps. 🩵

It’s gonna be a hot summer, so stay safe & hydrated! “Cas-cas!” ☀️

HoB The Fifth Sage - Ring Ruins

Journal Entry X/XX - As Miss Ansy prepared some much-needed fuel for our journey with Miss Koko, Mr. Link & I explored the Ring Ruins in search for clues regarding the Fifth Sage. Using his remarkable “Hidden Move” Ascend, we were able to enter the Ring Ruins held aloft by a valley. There, we had discovered a strange stone slab.

Mr. Tauro, leader of the Zonai Survey Team, was able to decipher the ancient text Link photographed with his Purah Pad. The name “Mineru” was discovered, as was the next stop on our route: the “land of dragons”, deep within Faron’s rainforests.

My instinct tells me we will find an answer to those mysteriously familiar yet unfamiliar Constructs…I am sure of it…

As it is, I can almost sense my lantern’s steady blue flame telling me that this is the correct track to take.

little blog about the depths

I survived that workweek. Somehow. 😮‍💨 & finally got a day off.

I was thinking of doing a little good news, art therapy thing today, work on that Hero of Bombs series, but first! In honor of Ingo exploring the Depths with Link, I’m very proud to share the lore accurate (for HoB), completed map of the Depths! \878/

As I’ve shared in that recent string of comics, the Depths is pitch black & the map is empty until you activate the Light Roots. This is the very first time I went & found each one! There’s a lot of danger down there - all that purple you see are Gloom that can “break” your hearts until you have Sunny foods, reach a Light Root, or return to the surface to recover. Also Gloom monsters, giant Froxes, etc. So I usually never bother exploring down there very much (scaryyyyy >u<).

It’s very fascinating - all rivers & bodies of water on the Surface are giant cliff faces in the Depths. I also felt it was a reference to the very first Legend of Zelda, where there’s an Underworld you have to explore, & eventually defeat Ganon. Also it’s funny how all the Light Roots are under shrines on the Surface, & have a name that’s the opposite of the shrine (Sinonoyk Light Root = Kyononis shrine).

Okay. That’s it. XD Now have some pretty pictures of some of the main places of interest during Ingo’s Fifth Sage quest 💣

With a reminder about heat sickness in light of the extreme heat warnings we’re getting in France & in the US this week or so.

Heat-related deaths in at least France have been rising, so please, please, PLEASE do what you can to stay safe! Have enough cool water on hand (& also eat cooling foods with enough salt to retain said water), wear brighter, lightweight clothes, avoid direct sunlight whenever & however you can (use a dark or dark-underside umbrella like mine), etc.

Heat sickness is not something to take lightly, or just brush off / tough out. If you start to feel lightheaded, weak, very thirsty, nauseous, etc. please take care of yourself. 😢

In the US, we’re forecasted to have record-breaking heat in the east, as well as wildfire conditions in the west. Not good.

If you or someone you know is unhoused (or under-housed, especially when it comes to access to AC or power), we do have emergency cooling centers they can go to. They have a website where you can search where to find one in your state. ❄️

You can also come to the public library - many have water fountains, & most of us have HVAC systems (can’t promise the quality, but it’s better than nothing) as well as free WiFi for you to chill out safely out of the heat. I think some of us may also have some cooling resources as well - better check the library’s website for more details before going. 📖

As for you guys out west, be sure to do what you can do to prevent wildfires. I know nothing about that being on the generally wetter east coast (currently more in drought / flood / storm conditions), so here’s a helpful guide by the NOAA.

HoB The Fifth Sage - Prologue

Journal Entry X/XX — We had reached our destination in Hyrule Castle, & confronted the Demon King’s puppet of Princess Zelda. We had a wild encounter en route with Constructs unlike all the ones we have seen on previous routes. I myself felt a shiver down my spine at the sight of them. They were familiar, but in a twisted way…Even now, I feel as though I am on the cusp of remembering something…at least enough to know what I saw was “wrong”.

Miss Ansy seemed to notice, & inquired as much. She seemed to want to say something, but stopped herself. Perhaps she can clarify in the future.

…Just who was I before I came to Hyrule?

HoB The Fifth Sage - Cover

I’ve been wanting to do this for a long while now - share Ingo’s version of The Fifth Sage quest. 🌌

“The Fifth Sage” follows Link’s journey to find Mineru’s Secret Stone within the Spirit Temple. Originally, I thought Ingo’s would be more or less the same with only a couple changes (eg. facing the Seized Memory aka a corrupted memory of his brother instead of the Seized Construct), but as this AU progressed, more changed 💭

It’s gonna be like a small prologue comic, then single panel entries to accompany one music track from that quest (the whole soundtrack is excellent, the ones around this quest especially so 🎵) & if I’m feeling brave…an animatic. ouo;
