a small gift for my lovely friend @playing-with-inks !! i know how much you love little Fingon and Maedhros, so here's a scene of conductor finno ft. his star musician maitimo, a coat stolen borrowed from him, doting fathers and an orchestra of stuffies belonging to assorted cousins

when I showed it to her in DMs, she pointed out that I usually draw Mae with a braid only after the Nirnaeth Arnododoedid (based on one of my headcanons) and then asked if this is a flashback from his POV, or a dream/hallucination of their happier childhood. after reading that i couldnt help myself so here is a bonus based on her astute observations 👀

this may sound dumb, but have any of your characters (in fanfic or original) told you things or reveal something which you didn't expect during the process of writing?One of the things I was surprised to discover was that as I was writing (and I don't mean plot outlines & ideas but actually during writing the story itself), sometimes, it feels as though I could see through the character's eyes things/thoughts I may not have conceived merely on my own. I was curious to learn your thoughts :)

It’s an interesting question! I had to think about it for a bit, but nothing like that is coming to mind for me. Sounds like a cool experience to have.

this is for the lovely @playing-with-inks​ who requested maitmo teaching wee finno how to fly a star kite! i couldnt decide between your regular 5-pointed kite suggestion or the actual-shooting-star-kite caught with an enchanted rope made by feanor, so i went with both 🌟 (playing-with-inks has such a wonderful story where this is referenced on ao3, so i highly suggest you read it if you want some wholesome mae-finno content!!)

Favorite Characters to write:

Hobbits! I love writing hobbitry--that’s what Tolkien called it, that delightful back and forth banter. They’re so much fun. Especially the Tooks, and Belladonna most especially, because they’re the ones that get up to Shenanigans. I also really love writing about Elured and Elurin, although I haven’t in ages. And also Elwing--I never mention her when answering this question but she’s my favorite character overall and I love writing her very much.

Favorite ship or platonic pairing to write:

Elured & Elurin, definitely. AND more recently, I am deeply enjoying Maglor & Quynh (from The Old Guard movie) being weird friends and semi-accidental roommates. And I think so is Maglor, all stabbings aside.

I haven't read all of your Tolkien fics yet, but my favorite fics from you so far are "She Walks in Starlight" and "The Archer in the Sky" from By Your Side collection. Your beautiful writing definitely left a mark on my heart. Thank you!

Those poetic pieces have a special place in my heart too. I wish I wrote like that more often, but it’s almost like the spirit only temporarily borrows me as a vessel for it.
