Show Etiquette: Playing a Show
-Show up on time.
-Don’t be greedy. If you are playing a show in your hometown with a touring band be willing to give your cut to the touring band. They need it more than you do and they will return the favor when you play in their area.
-The time in between each band is vital for keeping the show on schedule. You can pack up your gear once you are off stage. The most important thing is to get the next band on stage as quickly as possible. Move your gear off as quickly as possible and help the next band load their gear on.
-Never play over the time slot you have been given.
-Watch every band’s set. Be respectful and take the time to stick around to watch them play.
-Talk up the other bands while on stage.
-When you are playing a free show for a percentage of the bar make sure you tip your bartender. It is the bartender that determines your payout and if you make them happy you are more likely to be invited back for another show.
-Thank everyone after the show. Thank the other bands, the sound guy, the bartender...everyone.
