Over the past few years, I’ve been drawn to music that sounds less produced - that feels like it’s from a simpler time. I’ve gathered a variety of hand drums from various cultures and eras and I’ve gone down many YouTube rabbit holes to explore their sounds. One of those holes was of Appalachian mountain music, specifically the common-item percussion of the washboard, the spoons, the bones, and the paper bag. I decided to give the spoons a try for a backyard family music night with @fawnv on the ukelele and Kina on the bongos. This cultural blend of sounds was never meant to be together (and arguably shouldn’t be together), but the experience offered us great fun and learning.
