Happy! Happy! Holidays!
We want to thank you for a wonderful year. From all of us at PlayWith, thank you!
We will be hitting the slopes and using PlayWith to meet new friends to explore off piste trails!
Never fear, you can still email us at [email protected] or tweet @PlayWithApp if you need any help from December 24-January 5.
Most Popular Activities on PlayWith in 2014
Admittedly it is too early to draw any conclusions. PlayWith has only been around for a month in the entire 2014 and there are still a couple of weeks left in the year.
However, it is that time of the year, a time to draw some conclusions and reflect.
A couple of fun observations:
- There were more Product Hunt (#5) and Beta List (#9) events than many sports.
- PC (#6) master race can rejoice as they clearly beat PlayStation (#8) and Xbox (#13).

From Aventio to PlayWith
Last year PlayWith was going to be Aventio and it was going to solve a completely different problem.
The idea behind Aventio was to provide outdoor sports enthusiats with a crowdsourced sport specific real-time weather report and forecast that doesn't suck. As a matter of fact there still isn't an app that does contenxtualized crowdsourced weather reporting right.
There are good weather forecast apps. There are good crowdsourced weather apps. Except a weather report or a forecast is completly useless without context, crowdsourced or not.
Case and point. There isn't such thing as a good forecast for swimming, kitesurfing, wakeboarding and surfing since ideal weather conditions are wastly different for each of the above-mentioned activities even though all are performed on the beach on warm sunny days.
However, Aventio wasn't meant to be. Not yet, anyways.
While at a ski resort and working on Aventio's social layer the idea rapidly evolved into an app that would help me find a snowboarding partner to safely explore some of the resort's more dangerous off piste slopes. I'd like to think that that was the day when PlayWith was born.
The new concept rapidly evolved from sketches into app designs and ptototype. It took some time before finally settling on design language, core functionality and focusing on user experience.
Join PlayWith waiting list and be the first to know when the app is released.
