Plaza Cafe, Santa Fe, NM

It was highly recommended to me to go to the historic town center in Santa Fe before I started my day's drive. It was definitely a nice way to spend the morning, just walking around, exploring the plaza. I wanted to go in the church and look around but it was Sunday so I didnt want to go in during a service. But it did look like a beautiful church from the outside. Of course, I needed to find a place to eat. While I was exploring, I found the Plaza Cafe, which looked like a nice spot that locals frequented. Walking in, my initial feeling was that it was a bit sterile, but once I sat and got some tea, I began to see the hominess of the place. The server was over quickly and answered my questions about the menu. I chose the chile rellenos omelet, which the server told me was extra spicy! It came with there signature spicy tomatillo sauce, which I was very excited to try!! The food came out promptly and was a very large plate, with the omelet as well as beans and hash browns. There was no way I would finish this whole plate for breakfast. Everything was very good, though the spicy sauce was not quite what I expected. I added some Tapatio and I was all good. Everything went together very well. It was so good that I couldn't stop eating and I did finish the whole large portion!! I also had a side of their thick cut bacon, which was 3 pieces and totally worth every penny. It had a hint of sweetness, not too fatty and delicious as most bacon is!! Definitely a must with every breakfast order!! I would highly recommend the Plaza Cafe if you find yourself in the historic part of downtown Santa Fe. Food and service were both great and with very generous portions, value for cost was excellent! Its also dry easy to find right on the plaza, though parking can be tough and there are a lot of one way streets. But dont be deterred, it is totally worth whatever small difficulties you might encounter getting there. Have a great day!!
