So... I saw something recently that rustled my jimmies. So I thought, even if the audience is small, I'd address it.
It went along the lines of
My art will never be as good as someone else's
So... Lemme tell you something as a long term artist. Never. Ever. Compare your art to someone else. Your art is not meant to be like someone else's. Your art is what you make. Can you use inspiration from another artist? Of course! Sometimes you just see some elements and they are absorbed into your own. You practice, practice, try and try. You won't have a style your own right away, you create it from scratch. You can take classes and do tutorials but in the end
Just as every person is unique, so is art. The only comparisons you should ever make is to your own works. Decide what you like, how you choose to do things, your favorite ways to get your end goals. Practice different lines, draw one thing a hundred different ways, play with your lighting, visit different color schemes. It's your work! Do what you like. It's your creation. Not someone else's.
Tldr: Don't compare yourself to others, or you will never be happy. There are no rules besides your own.
