The real answer is that nothing about Juvia’s past is known, only that it is confirmed that Juvia’s parents are dead. Some people will argue that Juvia lived with her uncle because of Ice Trails but that story ruined Juvia’s rain aspect so I don’t consider it canon. There’s also a lot of differences in the sub and dub translation so all I can say for sure is that Juvia never saw the clear sky.

Lucy wrote all her adventures in Fairy Tail in a popular book series

Because all the kids were too young to read and comprehend it, Makarov would gather the kids and read them Lucy’s book

When Makarov got to Phantom Lord, the kids found out Gajeel and Juvia were not originally Fairy Tail members.

There was a lot of tears and name calling from the kids. 

The Redfox and Dragneel kids fought 

Fullbuster daughter called Lucy a liar

Miraxus daughter just liked causing chaos 

Fernandes kids were trying to keep the peace

None of the children knows their parents’ names. They called them mom and dad their whole lives, so how could they?

I really wish they'd explore the thunder ledgion because when compared to the other members, they're very different. Fairy tail is a guild full of people who all thrive off connection. Meanwhile, for a long time, the thunder legion chose to stay isolated and only really interacted with each other. It makes me think seeing some of their backstories could give some insight into why none of them felt comfortable interacting with the rest of the guild but still wanted to be a part of it.

I especially wonder about freed. he in particular is very different from the standard fairy tail archetype, so I think it could be pretty interesting to see why he wanted to join in the first place. I think it's cool when characters don't really fit in at a glance, then as you learn more about them, you start to understand why they belong at the guild. For example gajeel initially doesn't seem like he belongs at all from what we saw of him in phantom, but as time goes on his actions reveal more about him as a person and you start to understand why he belongs here and why he would want to join.

I wish they did that with freed because from an outside perspective freed is not a typical member of fairy tail at all, he's rigid and obsessed with rules is a guild full of the worst rule breakers around, but he also wears his guildmark in a very prominent location and he's the first to go against laxus when he thinks things are going too far.

He clearly is both proud of and loves his guild deeply despite how different he is, and i think showing what made fairy tail appeal to him in the first place would be a really cool way of expanding on his character.
