I don’t know of any projects per say but I do know that there is the Move to Higher Ground initiative and it would be amazing if people could support it

i’m only trying to do what i can !! i’ve always made it a point to ensure that my blog will always be a safe space for everyone, and i think being vocal is a part of creating that safe space. but i hope everyone knows that you are accepted and loved and seen and heard here, today and tomorrow and as long as i’m on this website, and i hope i can inspire others to offer the same thing on their blog, because these things go deeper than just tumblr

Hey everyone! I’m Alex, and I’m a 16 (almost 17) year old lesbian artist. I’ve been on Tumblr since I was 11 or 12, and in that time I have been exposed to so many amazing artists and have seen so many people receive help. I really hate to do this, because everyone is facing their own hardships, but - 

Today, I’m hoping you’d be willing to help me. 

I’ve been accepted to, and intend on attending, VCU's Summer Art Intensive program, an eight hours per day, Monday through Friday, three-week long program. The major I would be attending for is 2D portfolio development, a program intended to help prepare me for applying to college. 

VCU's program costs $3,000, not counting the $300 deposit (which my parents have graciously offered to pay) and the $50 fee for weekend classes. My fees are due in full on June 1, with my deposit (being covered by my parents) due May 11th. They do not offer scholarships. 

With college just on the horizon, the constant burden of my mother’s expensive medical bills, and my brother’s education to think about as well, paying for this by ourselves is impossible. Currently, I have a part-time job (that pays less than minimum wage) with all my money going towards this, I’m going to empty my savings account and I’m selling many of my things to try and reach this goal. 

This program is an amazing opportunity, and I would be so, so grateful to attend. With your donation, you can help me take one step closer to achieving my dream and paying for this program. Your help means so much to me, to my parents, and to my future. Seriously, any amount helps. And if you can’t donate but still want to help, it would mean the world to me if you would share/reblog this so others can learn about it.
