“A car…?” – she asked surprised – “Oh! You mean that blue one which driver had just honked at me…? I agree. It’s totally unacceptable. How did they even get a driving-license!?” – indeed, it was not just her pose. Nunnally truly didn't see anything inherently w r o n g with her attitude. She just crossed the road. Close to the zebra-crossing in fact.
“Oh…!” – these were perhaps Lukan’s next words that made her realize that he was worried (yet not that she might have been in a real danger though) – “So, you wouldn’t like me getting hurt…” – she joked taking his arm; brushing his true concerns off as she was so used to do, when things were becoming uncomfortable for her.
“Oh, I hope you don’t mind…” – her head pointing to his arm; not that Nunnally expected he’d d e c l i n e (or complain), but she wasn’t taking that chance either. She wanted to spend some time with him, outside the professional settings. And she suddenly and unexpectedly got her chance, and she was not to let it go.
“Of course you can!” – she laughed gently – “Though don’t expect I accept your every suggestion.” – yes, she knew she was attempting to flirt with her therapist, but she didn’t care. If she’s forced to quit the therapy to date this man, she would do it without a second of thinking! What an unexpected development!
“No, of course I don’t want you to be moody and awkward.” – Nunnally shook her head; her blond locks dancing around her shoulders – “Brunch it is. You choose the place.” – she agreed without waiting for the explanation to follow. She didn’t really expect one, but Lukan did deliver it.
She tightened her grip on his arm. As if she wanted to reassure him: --
“I…I apologize Lukan. I didn’t know that. I wouldn’t have asked if I knew.” – she wanted to ask him what bakery belonged to his family. Ad where it is… And perhaps more importantly, why he wouldn’t take her there. But she did not. Instead, she opted for some honesty.
“Perhaps one day you’ll take me to that bakery. But I am well aware it is not going to be today.”
“So where are we heading?”
