bloodmary but they’re both equally wary/off put by each other, yet so fascinated by each other in the same breath. grace who’s gone without human contact for so long and simon who’s amazed by the idea of alive stars and plants and animals. simon who’s scared that this is all just another hallucination by the false god and grace being scared because his last interaction with humanity was a betrayal. bloodymary who set this wall between them with biting banter, playful not-so-playful insults and sarcasm traded back and forth and back and forth. every eye squint a challenge, but they’ll both immediately step back if the other gets too close. bloodmary where grace knows he’s a coward, that he can’t get too close to simon, but he’s a scientist at heart and curiosity already sent his cat on a one-way ticket to space. it’s like this game of playing with fire, but the fire is each other and who’s gonna tell them that the burn won’t be as bad as they think it is?
