It's been a while since you got pregnant. Castorice was worried from the very beginning. She stayed away from you, not wanting to hurt you or the baby. So no hugs or kisses from her! You were a little devastated, but you understood her concern. She couldn't risk it. But you also couldn't help but feel lonely and long for her touch. You sigh deeply and lean back against the couch, placing your hands on your stomach. Relaxing, you suddenly feel a stirring in your belly. "Oh?" you giggle, rubbing your belly affectionately. It seems your baby is in a mischievous mood. "Cas!" you call to Castorice, who quickly bursts through the door at your voice. "Y-Y/N…! Are you okay…? I heard you calling…" You can see the obvious concern on her face as she squeezes your hands. She's been like this ever since she found out you were pregnant. You shake your head and smile sweetly at her worried face, guiding her gloved hands to your belly. "Can you feel that?" Your gesture makes her eyes widen in surprise, and she even gasps softly as she moves them and feels a kick in your stomach. She's silent for a moment, simply resting her gloved hands on your belly in peace. Eventually, she relaxes and smiles at the sight of your baby kicking. You can't help but move your hand to stroke her hair, making her look at you in confusion. "Don't look at me like that, Cas. You're so cute, and I can't help myself." She follows your finger with her gaze as you playfully poke her nose.

Castorice pulls away and sits next to you as she finishes rubbing your belly. She glances at you from the corner of her eye, nervously fidgeting with her fingers. "She's very energetic today." Her words are so quiet you have to lean in closer to hear them. You take her hand in yours and stroke it reassuringly with your thumb. "She is," you comment, a small smile on your face that immediately spreads to Castorice. She can't contain her happiness, even though she's nervous. But she knows she has to be strong for you and your baby. She needs to stop running away and take responsibility. "Do you think she'll let me braid her hair?" she asks, hope in her eyes. Your answer is quick and warm. "Definitely." Your words bring tears to Castorice's eyes, which she quickly wipes away. She feels so happy now, and she's grateful for you.

“I love you, Castorice.” You kiss the top of her head gently, nothing but pure love.

“You’re far too good for me, Y/N…” She says, leaning into your touch, then whispers, “I love you too.”

° Aglaea also sews clothes for your baby because, let's be honest, she knows the ball. And it really does turn out adorable! But what can you expect from the best dream dressmaster in Okhema? Maybe she'll even sew some cute little accessories?

° She enjoys taking your child for walks in the garden, showing them the flowers in bloom this season. She can't help but smile when your little baby curiously reaches out to touch a flower. She feels the warmth spreading through her body, but also her protective nature. Although she allows you to move around Okhema with your child, she can't shake the anxiety that plagues her. Perhaps she's become too used to you...

Castorice

° I can see the pure shock on her face when you tell her you're pregnant. And most surprisingly, with her child! (How did you even manage that...? No one's judging you.) She walks around with her hands on her head, worried she might accidentally hurt your baby! You hold her hands and hug her, assuring her everything will be okay. You understand she's very happy, but just scared.

° When you tell her to press her face against your belly, her eyes widen and her ears twitch with surprise as she feels the baby kick. She runs her gloved hand over your belly, gently stroking it, as if she's afraid she'll hurt you. Finally, a relaxed smile spreads across her face.

° When the baby is born, Castorice decides to do everything in her power. After all, she loves you both and can't leave you alone in this situation. Like Aglaea, she enjoys spending time with your child in the garden, making a flower crown for it. Even though it's risky, she enjoys petting its head and running her fingers through its hair.

Cerydra

° Cerydra almost drops her teacup when you tell her that . For the first time in her life, she's too stunned to speak. She asks you a few questions, if you're sure, before she finally realizes she really did get you pregnant. It takes her a moment to compose herself, but when she does, something inside her changes. The coldness disappears (but her nonchalance doesn't lol) .

° Whenever you catch her looking at your belly, she immediately looks away in embarrassment. She's even more embarrassed when you tell her she can touch it. Her hand trembles as she strokes your belly, but she slowly calms down and smiles softly (but don't mention it, or she'll scold you).

° Her attitude also changes after the baby is born. She frowns with irritation at the baby's crying because she can't concentrate. But how can she be angry at her own child? When you're not around, she tries to teach it how to play chess, but it's too early to teach a child something like that... You once caught her red-handed and told her to stop brainwashing your child...

Hysilens

° Hysilens is very happy about your pregnancy, as she can raise the child with her lover! She even cried a little when she heard the news. But she didn't consider the consequences, since you're a human and she's a siren. What if the child gets sick because of it? And worse, what about you?

° She's scared because she doesn't know what's going to happen. You try to calm her down by holding her hands and gently kissing the top of her head. She's more nervous than you are. She helps you with everything, whether it's when you need something or just offering emotional support. She's there for you.

When the birth is successful, she's there with tears in her eyes as she sees her beautiful baby in your arms. It's indeed half-human, half-siren, with ears slightly longer than normal and scales on its body.

Castorice is used to being alone. One touch of hers could lead to death. But you were with her before. She loved you, but you died protecting people. There was nothing anyone could do to save you, and she was left alone again. It broke her heart, but she kept her pain to herself. It went on like this until one day you came to the city. You were wearing different clothes, but it was definitely you. Everyone who knew you before recognized you. You had the same appearance, the same manner of communication, the same habits, even the same name. But you didn't remember anything. You didn't remember your past life, and when Castorice realized this, her heart hurt again. She almost believed that you were back, but the pain of loss was waiting for her again

At first, she tried to keep her distance from you. She didn't want you to die because of her, but you seemed to be attracted to her. You couldn't explain why you wanted to communicate with her, but you tried to make friends with her. Understanding her abilities, you maintained a safe distance, but you still sought to communicate with her. At first, Castorice was quiet. She didn't know how to be with you. She wanted you to be together like before, but she understood that you simply did not remember any of this. However, the fact that you were eager to communicate with her again and be by her side gave her hope that at least some of the past could still be brought back

At some point, you started paying attention to her again. She remembered how you courted her before you confessed that you were in love with her and now the story was repeating itself. She knew she should have stopped you so it wouldn't hurt so much anymore, but her heart was fluttering in her chest again and she knew she wanted you to be with her again. Her feelings for you haven't gone away, and the fact that even when you were reborn, you fell in love with her warmed her heart. Castorice wanted to hug you, wanted to feel you take her hand, but she knew it was impossible. She couldn't do anything without hurting you, but you stayed by her side anyway, smiling tenderly at her and ready to love her even if you could never touch even the tips of each other's fingers

Castorice hoped that you would never leave her again. She sincerely wanted you to stay by her side and that even death would not be able to separate you. You couldn't know what the future held for you, but as long as you had the opportunity, you stayed close even though you didn't remember what happened in your past life. You had a new life and you weren't going to miss a single moment

° Castorice didn't initially know your true nature. She treated you with distance, just like she treated others. She warned you when you got too close to her, not wanting to lose another loved by her person.

° But that changed when she was going through a difficult time. Snowflakes drifted into her hair as she stared into the distance, tears streaming down her cheeks. The inability to touch anyone truly haunted her and the harm she caused to many people. But then she felt hands wrap around her waist. She looked back and... saw you, your face buried in her shoulder.

° "Y/N?! You can't do that! I...Oh my god... What should I do n-" But then you shushed her with your finger and tightened your grip on her waist. Seeing that you were okay only confused her further. She turned to face you, but when she saw you looking at her with smile, something inside her snapped.

° Seeing how confused she is, you explain everything. That you can't die. Or rather, that you're already dead. To your no surprise, It only terrifies her more. Did she just kill you? You explain again that you've been dead for a long time. She doesn't press further and looks at you with something akin to sympathy.

° "Could I… touch you?" This is the first time she's ever been able to ask anyone that. Well, she didn't even try, because she already knew the answer. But not with you, she can touch you. Her touch is obviously cold as she runs her hands over your cheeks, then your jaw. Your body feels strangely warm to her surprise.

° You both stand there in a tight embrace. Or rather, Castorice hugs you too tightly, cries even louder... But can't you blame her? No. You just let her hug you as much as she wants. Finally, she pulls away, embarrassed, seeing your flushed face in her tight embrace. She quickly apologizes while wipping her tears away.

° And that's just the beginning... Because you're the only person she can touch, she feels much safer in your presence. It's like she doesn't have to pretend, that she can be herself, express her feelings and needs.

° Now she can hold hands and rest her head on her beloved's shoulder without any interruption. She truly had been waiting for this moment for a very, very long time. And she finally had it.

The harsh reality of her condition and eternal solitude is something that Castorice has accepted a long time, still that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt her, because it does and a lot. But it isn't like she can do anything to change what she is, she simply doesn't have any other option than just accepting it, so she does it

But at the same time, having you around, loving you the way she does becomes a cruel reminder of what she will never be free of, the wish to be with you, to be able to walk at your side while holding your hand, to seak comfort in your arms, it is something that it is killing her from the inside, how much she wishes she could do as much as hold you. Perhaps the titans will have mercy of her and will allow it to happen in another life, but for now please let her just stay like this, sitting as close and her deadly touch allow it, let her be at your side for as long as posible before you two part ways because having you so close and yet so far away is becoming tortuous for both, and both know that is the best to part ways before one of you hold the other to fulfill the selfish and reckless desire of your heart

It’s Halloween night, which is something you love yet are deathly afraid of at the same time. This holiday is your favorite, after all. You love that you can act more like yourself and dress however you want with no judgment, along with all the delicious candy and spooky stuff. However, your inability to speak and sensory issues give you a hard time and you worry that they might flare up while going out. These still don’t undercut your desire to go out and have some fun, though, since you rarely do to begin with and with so many wearing masks when you don’t have to like in your daily life, motivates you to take a risk and have some fun outside.

And so, you leave your house shortly after sunset, around 7 PM. Decked out in a cute-looking full body skeleton costume, you decide to not bother waving your single mother off as you exit out the door. She’s your only other family member and she doesn’t treat you well, to put it lighty… Regardless of her indifference to your wellbeing, you focus on having a hopefully fun time on the streets ahead of you. You’ll get a hell of a lot of candy and see many cool costumes, no matter what!

For the first fifteen minutes or so, everything goes pretty well. You venture down a couple of neighboring streets and take in the fun-filled and creepy atmosphere. Since it just turned dark, there were a fair amount of people roaming about. Dozens and dozens of trick or treaters, kids and adults alike, trickle past you, spanning every kind of cosplay you can possibly think of. Fortunately, they don’t pay you much attention and keep their distance, so your nerves and senses remain calm. You admire the creative decorations that adorn many of the houses in your large neighborhood, with inflatables and lights in abundance. That’s when you realize that you haven’t done the thing you were most looking forward to yet: Getting candy from the houses as part of the trick or treating tradition. Your heart rate increases and your breathing intensifies slightly at the thought, fearing that the house owners will react with confusion and negativity upon you not saying anything to them. It’s difficult to exactly tell people you can’t speak, particularly when you have a Halloween mask on in the dark. This leads you to meander around a few blocks, searching for a house that has its candy on a table near the street, rather than knocking on the door, as some residents liked to do for safety reasons.

Thankfully, you spot one after a few more minutes, it has a single middle-aged adult scrolling on their phone instead of tending to the large bowl of assorted candy in front of them. You hesitate for a few moments, the crowd’s chattering and bright lights of the house’s decorations overwhelming you. You then march forward to the table after seeing a young child dressed as Michael Myers grab a large handful of candy and walk off without a word. If a kid dressed as an evil slasher villain (something they shouldn’t be old enough for) of all things could do it without speaking, then why couldn’t you?

Using this indirect sense of social safety, you swiftly get to the bowl and do the same. Luckily, the person didn’t even seem to notice you at all, so you happily strut away and feel relieved that nothing bad happened. You filled a quarter of your bag from that one move, a win in your eyes. If you can do the same for a few more houses, you’d have a full haul. Caressing your candy bag as if it’s a precious treasure, you then look back at the street with a feeling of victory as you notice something in your field of view that stops you cold in your tracks.

There, about fifty feet away on the edge of the house’s lawn, stands something you have trouble describing. It appears to be a humanoid figure shrouded in a shadowy mist. For a moment, you can’t make out any other details. Then, the foggy smoke parts as the entity turns to stare directly at you. Its form resembles the extremely decayed corpse of a young woman, with her skin chapped and pale gray, blank white eyes, half of her mouth’s lips missing that shows a jaw full of teeth along the side of her face, messy long lavender hair, pointy dagger-like ears, lanky arms that slowly turn into bones around the hands, long legs that have chunks of flesh missing and skeletal remains visible, and an exposed ribcage that holds what appears to be a violet and dark void inside that emanates the same fog from before.

Her clothing is somehow even more strange. A tiara of bone appears to adorn her head, along with her entire body being wrapped in a large black cloak that’s open in the front, revealing torn and mangled plain clothes underneath that give her a sense of old timeliness and resurrection. Ripped black shoulder-length gloves in the same fashion are on each of her arms, with similar knee-length heeled boots on each leg. And perhaps most strangely, a pair of large insect-like black wings jut out from the back of the cloak and look withered and flayed at the sides, giving her a very uncanny look. Occasional dead flowers also line parts of the attire, making her also feel melancholic and beautifully serene along with the terrifying feelings she gives off. The holiday’s images and atmosphere all around you seem to be manifesting this bizarre sight, it seems. Sights like it make you feel quite afraid, more than usual.

Her staring goes on for a few long seconds, and soon, you can’t take it anymore. She stands in her spot, unmoving and emotionless as she appears to scan you for some unknown reason. Your head starts to pound and you feel scared, confused, and overwhelmed all at the same time. This distress envelops the figure in the black mist once more. You take this as your cue to get out of there, not wanting your hallucinations to get worse, as they often do in situations and feelings like this.

Turning in the opposite direction, you bolt down the street away from the unsettling sight, not caring if people looked at you strangely. Within thirty seconds, you get halfway down the block, a good distance away. You breathe a sigh of relief as you finally feel calm again. Unfortunately, things go south when you hear a familiar voice shout in your direction. “Hey, if it isn’t the mute freak!”, they cruelly greet.

You look to your left and see a group of three you know all too well, for the wrong reasons. These three friends have bullied and picked on you ever since you were small, and are in your class at school. Despite being teenagers, they never seemed to grow out of putting down others. And being different neurologically from them made you a prime target for their cruelty. Their near daily tormenting takes its toll on you, adding to the loneliness and isolation you feel throughout your life from the lack of friends or support in general…

Before you can get away, they’ve already surrounded you in a triangular formation, effectively blocking you from escape. One of them takes a big step towards you and taunts: “Say something, mentally ill freak!” You freeze and begin to shake in fear at the insults, knowing your lack of a response will just spur on further verbal abuse, like it always does. As if reading your mind, the third bully yells, “ANSWER US!!”, at the top of their lungs. This causes you to grip your head at the sides and crouch down in panic, breathing getting heavier and heart beating faster.

Sadly, this leads to the bully that spoke first to further pick on you. “Your costume looks so stupid, by the way. Lemme help you take it off!”, they mock before proceeding to tear your skeleton mask off forcefully, exposing your sight to their full horridness, “Now that I think about it… You’re a pathetic, insane little weakling, so I guess a stupid slim skeleton fits you well! Ha ha ha!” The uncostumed student then throws the mask at your head, hitting you with a plastic-sounding bonk that didn’t hurt, but made your mind fall into panic mode.

Their collective laughter paralyzes you as only a pained gasp escapes your mouth, sending them into even more teasing laughs. You grip your head even tighter as the hallucinations come back. The bullies’ bodies start to warp and meld in a liquidly fashion and the shadows of the night make everything get darker and darker as all the loud noises threaten to send you into a sensory meltdown.

Your body crumbles over and you sit on the ground in exhaustion, trying your best to block out all the noise and taunting. It doesn’t do much, sadly. Traumatic memories of your mother yelling at and hitting you when your sensory and hallucinatory issues come up flood your mind as they are interlaced with the tormenters’ taunts, switching between them back and forth like a railroad switcher. Then, you look to your right as a way to focus on something else, only to see the same deathly figure shrouded in mist only a short distance down the street, slowly approaching your location in a hovering motion. Except this time, she appears to be pulling… no, pushing something? Whatever it is, it’s formless and the same color as the fog, giving off an uncanny and undead feeling that’s similar to her.

Of course, seeing this makes you feel even worse. You fear what will happen once they reach you, even though you know it’s not real deep down. You want to escape, but you can’t, being trapped by the people who make your life miserable. In an attempt to do something, you try to lift your shaking body and stand up, only to be met with a swift kick to the stomach by one of the bullies. The resulting pain sends you back to the ground as you hyperventilate and grip your arms around your body and hug yourself to block it all out… That same student then snatches your candy bag and smiles deviously. “You got a little stomach ache? Aw, that’s a pity. Guess you shouldn't have eaten so much candy, then!”, they deadpan before proceeding to dump the contents all over you, each piece of candy hitting your head and back with a thud. No physical pain is felt, but the anguish from the whole situation makes you start to cry and tear up, leading to everyone laughing harder…

Then, a soft yet firm voice from your right yells out: “Stop it!! That’s enough!” Just like that, the three losers’ laughing and taunting stops as they all turn to see who spoke out against them. You do the same as your eyes land upon the pair of shadowy misty figures. Realizing that there really are people there, you take a deep breath and rub your eyes. The scary hallucinations disappear, revealing who the voice belongs to.

In the center of your vision, where the source of the declaration came from, is a girl about your age in a wheelchair. She’s wearing an angry and fearless expression, staring fiercely at the bullies with a judgmental stare while crossing her arms. She has long lavender hair that matches her eyes and noticeably pointy ears. She is also dressed in an elegant-looking mummy costume, with the silky white bandages wrapped all over her body, arms, legs, and even her face and right eye. A few yellow and purple flowers also appear every so often on the drapes. And the wheelchair she sits in is quite large, with a leathery black hue and numerous stickers of butterflies, hearts, and flowers on the sides in various colors. Overall, she has a gentle yet determined look to her that showcases courage and strength.

Next to her, interestingly, is another girl that looks almost identical in physical appearance, likely being her twin sister. Except she’s standing off to her right and has an expression of concern and caution, being quieter and having her hand pressed to her chest in sympathy. Unlike the horrifying hallucination, her clothing is quite simple: A zombie princess costume with a cheap Halloween cloak, fake tattered clothes, gloves, boots, a broken silver tiara, and a pair of purple strap-on butterfly wings. Like her sister, flowers also line her clothing. Unlike her sister, she also wears red-framed glasses. Her standing also made her feel tall and imposing when side by side with her. Overall, she has a reserved yet caring look to her that showcases empathy and cooperation.

Once you take in the sisters’ visages, you realize that you’ve seen them at school before. Your paranoia from the distress you felt altered their appearances based on the images you associate with creepy things on this particular night, you speculate. The quiet one, Castorice, is in your grade and has unfairly been labeled a “goth girl” negatively because of the dark clothing she typically wears. People say she’s weird and dangerous, but you never talked to her before to know for sure. And the loud one in the wheelchair, Polyxia, is her younger twin sister and most don’t pay her any mind because of her disabilities. Her and Castorice are nearly inseparable and are almost always seen together, smiling and helping each other out. And this isn’t the first time they’ve noticed you, since they often give you worried looks at lunch or during free time while you sit by yourself feeling sad. You never approached them, though, unsure if they could be trusted. Honestly, at that moment, you don’t see how anyone could look down on them. Then again, people do the same to you just because you’re different, so you sympathize… 

Your attention then snaps back to the present as you overhear one of your bullies saying, “Why? It’s none of your business, weirdos!”, as a comeback to them. In response, Polyxia silently gestures to Castorice at them, who then takes a few steps forward and speaks. “Because she said so.”, she commands intensely while pointing at them, “Now, you all must leave. I won’t let you hurt them anymore.” The three losers look at each other with faces of scorn and confusion, clearly wondering what the sisters could possibly do to them. Sensing this, Polyxia rolls a few feet forward of her own accord, the motions of her arms conveying strength and no hesitation. She leans forward slightly, and grips the sides of the chair hard with her fingers while giving them the death stare. “You will not lay another finger on that kid… Or we’ll call the cops! I’m being serious. Go! Get out of here, you bunch of losers!”, she declares. At this, the teenagers start to chatter among themselves briefly in intimidation before shooting the twins a look of prejudicial hate as they run off down the street, clearly threatened by what happened.

Once you notice they are gone from view, your breathing slows as you remain frozen on the ground, pain still coursing through your body. You then feel a hand grip your shoulder softly and you look up to see Polyxia sitting above you with a worried look on her face while leaning over to get a better look at your condition. She frowns and worriedly comments: “Oh my gosh, you look so distressed… I’m so sorry, sweetie. You didn’t deserve any of that… It’s awful, what those jerks did to you. Are you alright? Nod or shake your head for yes or no.” It seems she already knows about your needs, but you’re so overwhelmed with pain and discomfort that you can’t move, so her inquiry goes unanswered.

She rubs your back lovingly when you don’t do anything, not feeling judgemental, to your relief. While this is happening, Castorice steps over to you and softly states, “Here, let me help you out…”, as she proceeds to bend down and pick up each piece of candy off the ground and slowly put them back in your bag. She spends the next few minutes silently doing this before she grabs your mask off the pavement as well. Then, she hands it and the bag to her little sister, who takes them happily and holds them while they both wait for you to calm down and get up.

It admittedly takes a little while, but you eventually stand straight up after stumbling a few times. Castorice also helps you up by pulling your hand at the same time, giving you some much-needed support. When you turn and face Polyxia, she holds out your belongings and smiles warmly. You try your best to smile and nod in response as you take them out of her hands. Then, you stand in place awkwardly, unsure of what to do next.

Sensing this, Castorice decides to speak first for once. “If you were wondering, I saw you staring at me and running away. I thought something was wrong…”, she elaborates quietly, “I can tell you always wanted to speak to us, since we know what it's like for people to mistreat us for being different. I convinced my sister to follow you to help out, and well… …That happened.” Polyxia then seizes on her hesitation and smiles as she thinks of an idea. “Speaking of helping, do you want to come trick or treating with us? I think you’d feel better if you have us around, seeing how distraught you feel from those bullies. Besides, it’s more fun with friends. That way, we can get to know each other better and have a great time. Don’t worry, we’ll make sure you feel safe and comfortable! Shake your head yes or no if you can answer.”, she suggests.

Hearing this surprises you greatly and makes your senses feel more calm again. You always had trouble making friends, but seeing that these twins are so nice to you and have their own disability struggles, you begin to think that they can be trusted. And them being the first people to ever help you out when you were being bullied sealed the deal for you. With more energy now, you smile and nod more apparently than before, feeling joy again for the first time since setting out that night. Castorice smiles and nods herself while Polyxia claps her hands in excitement and remarks: “Great to hear! Let’s go and get some candy and take in the sights. Onward, Sis and new friend!” With that, Castorice smiles and walks over to the back of the chair and puts her hands on the handles before proceeding to push it further down the street they were going down before, Polyxia chuckling with glee at the same time. You follow close behind, excited and curious where you’ll go and do with them.

Over the next hour, the three of you visit tons of houses and rack up on a mountain of candy each. For most of that time, you felt calm and fine, the support of the sisters helping out greatly. However, you had trouble with one house near the beginning of your journey with them. When you all reach the edge of the property's lawn, you notice that the house is large, old, and creepy-looking. This would’ve been fine on its own, but your hallucinations crop up again at the discomfort you feel when looking at it, with it growing larger and more gothic and dark in appearance. Having to go up to the door to get the residents’ candy also didn’t help.

You freeze and are unable to move, your anxiety getting the better of you. Both of your companions immediately pick up on this, with Polyxia looking at Castorice and offering, “How about I stay here with you? I can tell you need the company. Sis, you go ahead and get our candy. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine!”, while speaking to you in a helpful tone. Castorice smiles lightly before nodding in agreement and walking towards the house’s front porch with pride in her steps. You think that it must be nice to have such a kind and cooperative sibling.

While she’s up at the house doing the holiday’s signature ritual, Polyxia remains next to your shaking body, sitting there looking at you with a serene expression. She then reaches out and holds your hand gently, her soft fingers entwining with yours warmly. “It’s okay. It’ll pass, I promise.”, she says while continuing to comfort you, “I’m here for you, honey. You’re so brave for coming so far on your own, but now we can help you out!” You calm down a bit and smile from this, savoring the connection you feel that you’re not used to. She and her sister are so strong together, regardless of the hard things in their life.

Shortly after, Castorice returns with your bag and theirs, many pieces of delicious candy acquired. Everything goes much more smoothly after this little incident, with only good things happening from then on. At the biggest house in the neighborhood, where there are a comical amount of Halloween-themed inflatables and spooky decorations, Castorice stops and offers to take a picture of you and Polyxia with her phone, something she likes doing as a hobby. So, the both of you pose happily in front of the large mansion while she snaps the photo. It makes you feel motivated, since no one has ever wanted you in a picture before, not even your own mother…

As you all finish making your way around the streets and begin winding it down, you learn a little about the two sisters’ lives as they start breaking the ice more around you. Hearing about how they lost their parents when they were little and have been living in foster care for such a long time is heartbreaking, along with Castorice being anxious about touching others when she was younger, fearing that they would die one day as a result, but it improved as she got older. And Polyxia having chronic health issues and being wheelchair-bound her whole life, showing just how strong and capable she really is to still be so helpful in the present. You feel honored that they feel comfortable enough to share all this with you when most others wouldn't care. Maybe seeing you having a hard time was the reason.

At around 8:30 PM, it was getting late and most of the people had left or gone inside already. You could tell that Castorice and Polyxia were starting to feel tired and had their fun. Graciously, they even offer to walk you home, learning that they also live nearby. While you get closer to your house, they also give you their contact info, so the three of you can remain in touch, and texting can help you talk to them more. It feels so good to have true friends at last, you think to yourself.

When you reach the perimeter of your home’s lawn, you turn and face the sisters in front of you. “I guess this is it… I had a fun time tonight, thank you.”, Castorice expresses in gratitude. In response, Polyxia nods and follows up with: “Same here! And I’m also happy that we’re now friends and got to know you better. You’re a wonderful person to be around, and I’m sorry we didn’t come to you sooner… Still, we’re so glad to help you out and make some good memories together!”

Your heart melts from their words and politeness, which is on a level you’ve never seen before when it comes to you. You want to thank them for everything on this night. You may not be able to say it in words, but you can certainly express it through action! In the next instant, you step over to Castorice and embrace her tightly. At first, she gasps and remains limp, before then proceeding to bear hug you with even more intensity, revealing that she loves physical affection more than her withdrawn demeanor suggests. You pat her back playfully for a few long moments before letting her go. Polyxia chuckles happily in reaction and says, “Aww… That’s sweet! Come on, me next!”, in a yearning tone before spreading her arms open in anticipation. You practically run over to her as you crouch down to her level and throw yourself around her torso. There’s no hesitation for hugging you back for her, and she does so gently with the motions of a reliable bodyguard. You remain there for a little longer than you expect, maybe a half a minute. When you finally let her go and stand back up, she seems reluctant for it to end. You hope you can have interactions like this in the future with these two.

“Hee hee… That was quite lovely. It fills me with gratitude that you appreciate our efforts this much.”, Castorice pipes up afterwards, “I hope we will continue helping you out. Now, it’s time for me and my sister to head home. Goodbye, see you at school tomorrow!” She does a hearty wave after finishing her farewell, and Polyxia does the same while giving off a wide smile. While you feel a little sad you have to say goodbye to your two new amazing friends, the thought of seeing them more at school and online makes your worries dissipate for now. You give your biggest grin that you’ve given in a long time at them and awkwardly wave them off. With this, the twins look pleased and Castorice wheels her younger sister away down the street. Even with their backs turned, you can still feel their content with you and each other. You watch them get smaller and smaller until they turn a street corner and disappear from view.

You stand in place for a few moments and think about all that occurred so far. Meeting what turned out to be your saviors is definitely the highlight. They both were able to expunge some of your sensory issues with their accommodating presence. Sure, they’ll never completely go away, but with the mutual support and connection from others, they can be managed better and not allow for more negative environments to flare them up as much. That’s what you value most of all from this special Halloween night. With two other disabled friends as your superpower, your mom and those bullies don’t stand a chance when the three of you join forces together!

Writer’s Commentary: To be honest, I was nervous about writing this one. I’ve never done a disabled narrator with mental disorders like this before. Naturally, I was very worried about messing it up and contributing to negative stereotypes. I pulled the anxiety and neurodivergent sensory issues from my own life, but muteness and visual hallucinations are new to me. I tried my best to be nuanced and not make it seem insensitive, and have the message being about finding connection as a way to show that I want this to be inclusive and well-intentioned. Hopefully, it comes across fine. I thought Castorice would be a good fit for Halloween in this fun modern AU idea. Plus, I used this chance to give her a cool redesign in her hallucination appearance, which I always thought a decayed zombie aesthetic fit her well. I also wanted to feature Polyxia prominently, since she doesn't get a lot in the source material and she’s super interesting.

I hope I represented her use of a wheelchair and disabilities right as well, since I also never depicted it before. I know perhaps the bullying scenes maybe go too far, so I hope that doesn’t upset anyone! I thought it would be interesting to give Polyxia a costume that kind of looks more like Castorice’s canon design, with the wraps and brighter colors. And for Castorice’s to be more gothic and darker in color, as well as the glasses from that one sticker. I tried to make the ending sweet and wholesome, so hopefully it makes you feel good and remember that it’s okay to rely on others and you are worthy of connection! I also want to thank my best friend, Kat, for reading over this and making sure it turned out good.
