Hey, it's me again~ How've you been?
Hi~!
I’ve been good. I pretty much passed two classes, got one paper done and I’m submitting another one in a few hours. Though both papers are terrible I at least got them done in time ^^
I wanna buy a figurine now so Magi kinda has to wait even if it's my favourite series ever. But do you watch Steven Universe?
Well figurines are definitely worth money! You should definitely spend the money on the things you want to most.
I watch Steven Universe but I’m a bit behind on the latest episodes. I haven’t had the time to catch up yet, but I hope to do so this summer! I heard the most recent episodes are really good.
Oh man I feel like such a noob now xD I only have 3 volumes of the manga and two posters. Merch is super expensive here cause the monetary value in our contry is really low so if I buy anything from the webs in dollars it's 4th the price in our money. I'm so jelly of those magi keychains ; - ; I've never heard that stereotype to be honest but it's quite the opposite for us, people think romanians are bad at english.
Ahw, well I just really have a problem when it comes to buying merch so don’t feel bad about it. Most of mine just lies around in a bag so sometimes it’s better not to have too much of it :’D But yeah the currency can be a big problem. It’s just a bit expensive here but it isn’t horrible. I think it’s an average of 4-5 euros for a keychain (though it depends on the keychain, the juhaku ones go for 8 sometimes). I also tend to buy some stuff from other people, it’s a lot cheaper except for shipping, but I guess currency still doesn’t help with that either. I hope you’ll once be able to have one of those keychains, they’re worth it all.
Most people I know that have been to the Netherlands are always surprised by how many people can speak English and that most people can hold a pretty decent conversation. Okay I have to agree I probably join people in that bad English stereotype, sorry :’)
I'm your Magi senpai ohoho, I got into the manga even before the anime was produced, and the manga was just beggining the Magnostadt arc. I luckily was not introduced by Sinbad but by Aladdin waring traditional arabian clothes. I love arabian aesthetics so Magi was a blessing to me. Have you got any Magi merch? How are you so good at english tho?
Senpai ;-; You were at it so soon, wow.I never find people who have been with it that long. That’s amazing. Magi sure is one of the few mangas I actually decided to follow for more than one year, which is quite the miracle. I have to say Aladdin seems to be a better way to be introduced to Magi haha.
I fell in love with Magi because I had just started to read the 1001 nights and I’ve always been a nerd for ancient history. So it was great to find a fantasy manga that involved so many ancient cultures and was also beautifully drawn.
Yeah I have quite some merch, mostly straps because they’re so cute. I once made this post of the merch I had, but I bought more lately XD I got the complete snb strap set, a second Spartos, a Jamil and Sharrkan strap and the Juhaku straps, a tiny Aladdin pillow thing and the manga up to volume 23 now. (I think that’s all???)
Haha I wouldn’t say I’m that good at English. But it’s taught a lot during Middle-High school and some in elementary as well. And I guess I learned some of it as a child playing Pokemon, since the games would never have a Dutch setting. I guess a lot of people expect us to know perfect English since we try to be “such a progressive” country.
Soo let's get into another topic. How did you get into Magi? Yeah portuguese and my language are the hardest latin languages to learn. The grammar is hard even for us.
I’m not exactly sure how I got into it anymore. I think it was a combination of looking for a historical manga and then finding a pic of Sinbad wearing only a leaf (the cursed pic that probably gets everyone into liking Sinbad). I got into it right when the second season ended so I could watch all of it and then get into the manga.
Portugese does seem to be the hardest of them yeah. It never even sounds like a latin language to me. At least it seems much different from the other languagues :’D But don’t worry, probably no Dutch person knows how our grammar works either. There are too many rules and too many exceptions to them.
Unfortunately to be a nurse you need to have a medical degree so I wasn't able to do any uni. So glad to know your parents were so supportive! Your english is great for someone that has a complicated native language! I find dutch very hard since my native tongue is of latin origins, wayy different than yours.
Aah I see. Good luck with that!
Yeah I’ve heard that a lot of people find Dutch a really difficult language. But I was also told that because of the Dutch language (at least the speaking part) and English is pretty close to Dutch sometimes.
Latin languages are much harder for me, even though they sound beautiful and I’d love to get better at them. I’ve never been good at French and while I’m trying to learn some Spanish now, it’s hard sometimes.
It's good you're doing what you love, not many people have the opportunity or courage to do that (including myself). Oh, I've been wanting to ask something. Since you're from the Netherlands you're not a native english speaker right?
My parents always told me to do what I really wanted, especially since it’s usually the academic degree that counts more than what you’ve studied or what grades you got. I still find it a bit sad that not everyone can do that... uni is supposed to also be a time to deeply explore the stuff you like. But at the same time with some of the job markets I can understand not everyone would do that.
Yeah I’m native in Dutch and English is more of a second language. I use both a lot every day, but I’m pretty sure some Dutch grammar things always end up in my English ^^;
