Can we please talk about the other kinds of baiting in Sherlock?
I watched Sherlock a few months ago because I finally decided to join the fandom. But I did not get attached and this is why:
So I know the fans scream queerbaiting. I did not feel it that much until Sherlock and John end up "platonically" raising a baby girl (because why deny it at that point???????)
But BBC's Sherlock did more kinds of baiting. It did not just happen with John and Sherlock's relationship.
I was baited to wait for Irene Adler's return because she's badass and she's still alive somewhere. I hoped for nothing. Same thing with Mary Watson. I wanted her to live because I love the way she and John love each other. Again, my hope was let down. Especially because at the end of season 4, they hinted she's still watching John and Sherlock but did not confirm her to be alive. I HATE THAT. They keep doin that with Jim Moriarty too. I love Moriarty, okay? I wish they just stuck with him as the main villain and did not kill his character just to keep teasing the audience with the possibility of him being alive. And EURUS HOLMES. I watched season 4 just for her. But they ended her villain role with mental illness???????? Excuse me but every psychopath/sociopath villain on TV shows and movies are not excused from the responsibility of their actions just because they are not mentally sound. Sherlock's ending made it look like Eurus was just insane all the time. THEN WHO IS THE GIRL ON THE PLANE THAT SHERLOCK WAS TALKING TO IF IT WAS JUST A METAPHOR?????? The writers created a conflict for Sherlock that they cannot solve so they used mental health as scapegoat. For the last time, I was baited to keep watching for a plot twist and a satisfying ending but I am disappointed. Don't even get me started on how they tried to give Mrs.Hudson a backstory but did not actually show it.
