born reagan miranda wheeler on april 16, 1982 to warren and judith wheeler in greenwich, connecticut
she was one of those kids who was learning french at age 5 and playing piano and violin before she was out of elementary school
her parents were very hands-off so she was mostly raised by nannies and tutors and instrumental instructors which made her really interested in learning about other people’s lives and secrets and deepest wishes
summers were spent in the hamptons or at their houses in france and as much as she appeared to be the type of girl who loved that shit she always thought it was just too obvious that her parents didn’t want to spend time with her unless it was for appearances and she just wanted to be a normal kid
note: she was never openly like ‘WOW U GUYS DON’T LOVE ME!!!’ or had a rebellious phase, she played the part she just hated it
when she was in high school, her parents sent her to boarding school and she ended up getting close with someone who was also from greenwich and was a family friend
obviously things got gay
they told each other everything and the girl told reagan that her father sent her away to boarding school as soon as the marriage documents were signed and she didn’t trust him at ALL
and she was right because when they went home for winter break, the girl’s stepfather started a fire in their house and killed the entire family, himself and reagan’s best friend included
after going to therapy for a while, reagan decided to write a book about the whole thing called she saw it coming that became a bestseller
she almost immediately stopped going to school to go on book tours and the book got turned into a movie, which meant doing more and more interviews and reliving the entire situation over and over again
she decided six years ago that she’d had enough and moved to jericho to get away from it all, wanting to spend her thirties focusing on her own life and who she wanted to be instead of having to relive the worst news she had ever gotten over and over again
she can come off blunt and like she has walls up but all she wants is connection and she doesn’t care if she has to pay for it because money is nothing to her
even though she left her life to get away from all of the things that came with writing that book, she IS in the process of writing another one and it’s inspired by jericho and all of the people she’s connecting with here (kind of like that book dan humphrey wrote LMAO)
she’s also pretty blunt in her writing and she writes things the way they are without any kind of bias so the way she writes people can seem harsh but she really just sees all of the levels of someone if she knows them well enough and isn’t afraid to talk about the way they are
tl;dr - grew up rich w parents who ignored her, boarding school best friend/lover got killed by her own stepfather, she wrote a book about it and got extra rich from that, now she’s in jericho to detach from that but is also not detached from it at all bc she’s writing a book
