Lycaon kept his confusion at bay by continuing to fight onwards, picking off any survivors that dared to push themselves free from the rubble. He had spotted Pluto a few hours earlier but the original vampire had disappeared into the shadows before he could speak to him. "Are you going to join in," Lycaon called out, unable to tell if Pluto was still in his vicinity or if he had fucked off somewhere else, "Or are you going to let me have all the fun?" He channeled his rage over what Pluto had done to Trivia into the witch he had drug out of the rubble. Razor sharp claws at the ends of partially transformed fingers dug into magical flesh, spilling viscera and entrails onto the blood-soaked earth. He would deal with Pluto's wrongdoings after this war, if they survived. For now, he needed the Original's strength, as wrong as that sounded for him to admit.

There were interrogations. Countless of them. From different people and head of offices and headmasters and reporters and aurors... and her parents. Roxanne had lost track of how many people had come into the office in the castle where she had been kept until things were cleared up and she could be taken to the Ministry of Magic.
She could have sworn that the night had dragged on a lot longer than necessary, as if it had clawed itself onto the sky, challenging the dawn to pull it away with all her might. Throughout her time in the small office she kept thinking back on yesterday. How the day had begun with nothing in her mind other than putting on a decent costume. Her mind kept taking her back to the boy that had helped her and the girl that had taken her wand, and though she could picture their faces easily, getting to their names wasn’t as easy.
Her memories were still foggy, bit and pieces of certain things would come to mind faster than others, and the one that were fast were the ones about Cain Lowe and the attack on the castle. Everything else was the product of a dream. Roxanne didn’t understand why she felt so disoriented nor why she felt like she was missing something a puzzle piece, but nothing other than her testimony mattered at that time; and her testimony was the only clear thing she could say without trailing off or looking lost.
Roxanne Fawley was telling the truth. They concluded that around seven in the morning the the sun had finally risen from its long slumber. They gave her a potion to help keep her awake and tea to ease her nerves when they told her it was time to go. She still had to present herself at the Wizengamot, whatever happened to her afterwards was up to them.
The retelling of her testimony at the Wizengamot felt like another dream, a shorter one. She saw hands go up after someone said the word guilty, but then she saw more hands shoot up after they said innocent. Dumbledore had raised his hand the second time around; as she thought about it, she realized he had been the nicest to her since she was captured along with a group of werewolves.
Everything was Cain Lowe’s fault. It had been his idea, his attack. Roxanne had been imperio’d and that’s how she let him into the castle and wrote the messages on the wall. To get expelled from school because she was cursed would have been a faulty decision, so they agreed that it would be better for her to spend some time in St. Mungos, to ensure that she was truly alright. Imperio, she came to learn, wasn’t as simple as people made it out to be.
And so she ended her second day at the hospital, finally tired and ready to let go of an ever present nightmare that wouldn’t stop replaying in her mind. Over and over again those memories of Cain Lowe would overshadow everything else, so much in fact that she forgot to ask how she ended up in the hands of Cain’s followers. But none of that mattered now. At that moment all she needed was sleep.
