Here's my take on the Gembreakers from the Nine Realms! Out of all the main dragons' original designs this was probably the one I had the least issue with, mostly just a few things proportion-wise that bugged me, I also wanted to push the rhinoceros beetle aspect a bit more. So I gave her an extra pair of legs, made her horn more curved, and gave her some more armor plates (because it felt like the shell was oddly small in the original.) I made the tail thicker and more like a club/morning star because the original tail looked really thin and weak to me, it should be bulky like the rest of the dragon!

Some info about my version of the Gembreaker:

They have strict hierarchies, and those on top have access to the best food sources and territory, so individuals are constantly sparring and competing to try and move up the ranks.

They aren't naturally born with the crystals growing out of their body. They get them from eating gems, minerals, and other kinds of rocks and they build up over time. If they don't eat enough their armor can become too soft and leave them vulnerable, it also makes their horns more brittle and prone to cracking/chipping.

Their wings have a unique joint structure compared to other dragons, it allows their wings to fold in tightly against their backs and fit easily under their shells. This also means that they are slower to take off compared to other dragons like Gronckles.

Their saliva contains nitroglycerin, rather than breathing fire they can lob balls of saliva that explode on impact!

They have one of the best noses in the dragon world, only beaten by Rumblehorns. They can smell subtle differences in soil composition to find buried mineral deposits.

Some info on my version of D'angelo's dragon:

I changed her name to Azura, because I honestly think that Plowhorn is just a really unappealing name and doesn't fit in with the name conventions used by the other characters. So her new name is a reference to the Gemstone Azurite.

She's got an outward personality that is tough and grumpy, a product of living at the bottom of her clan's pecking order for years. But deep down she's a big softie who just wants affection, and D'angelo is the first she's shown her true nature to in years.

She's a good deal older other than the other riders' dragons (she's still a bit small for her species due to malnutrition) and is essentially the "mom friend" of the dragons, stopping the others from getting themselves into trouble.

D'angelo loves to spoil her, and always makes sure her horn is polished till it shines, something she takes great pride in.
