(I am learning more abt my own religion now knowing it has a name !!)
here’s a long post that no one asked for summarizing all my thoughts about today’s game, rm this season, and the state of football tunglr in general…
1. Let’s start with the most import thing: DO NOT try to police how fans react after a loss. Especially when it’s the most important game of the season, the most important rivalry… fans are gonna get angry no matter what, don’t expect them to be as nonchalant as you about their teams embarrassing them..and this doesn’t only apply to today’s game..but all football teams in general..I often see posts about how fans are being overly dramatic and how they should calm down and accept their teams’ failures..and that’s simply not fair..every fan reacts differently, so maybe instead of criticizing each other, we should respect that each person has their own way of dealing with disappointment.
2. There’s a difference between friendly banter and constantly bombarding fans of a rival team with your nonsensical opinions. We get it, tumblr is a public platform and you’re free to post whatever you want, that doesn’t mean you should jump on other people’s posts about their own team and start an argument bc you have nothing better to do with your day
3. Watching a team bc your fave plays for them is more than ok and it’s encouraged by myself and others. HOWEVER, constantly disrespecting a team and its players bc your fave isn’t getting the minutes you think he deserves is NOT OK. I’m not gonna name specific players or teams..but I think we all know who I’m talking about..and yes this absolutely applies to real madrid..I’m sick of seeing fans disrespect the club and its history bc their fave isn’t getting enough minutes
4. Ok now let’s talk about RM this season. 2017 has been an amazing year for us and nothing will change that. But seeing how badly the team is playing is not only disappointing but it’s truly disgraceful. I have been a fan of this club for a really long time and I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed them playing with so little passion..hell not even with mou was the team this soulless and careless..so yeah maybe we’re being dramatic with how critical of the team we are, but given how poor our performances have been, I really don’t think we are. It’s becoming really difficult to believe in the team and in ZZ and that terrifies me. He’s still insisting that there are no major problems to deal with and promises that he won’t change his system..so where does that leave us? bc there’s no way in hell we’re winning any trophies at the end of the season if we continue with this mindset. The team’s become complacent and the lack of motivation is worrisome to say the least..I can count the number of good games we’ve had so far on one hand..we’re struggling in the league, we’re not exactly amazing in the CL, and we barely made it through to the next round of the CDL..and we scraped through in the cwc… there are so many things wrong with the team it actually gives me a a headache just thinking about it.. the lack of good strikers/forwards.. the defensive problems that we still haven’t fixed..the coach refusing to try new things.. no matter where you look, it’s a mess..and this is not the real madrid I grew up loving.. this is a team I don’t recognize…we play with no purpose..there’s rarely a clear tactical plan.. I still have no idea what our style is supposed to be.. as for today’s game..it was an absolute disaster, one simple mistake from the coach made all the different and it really hurt us..but the thing is..he had more than enough time to fix but he waited WAY TOO LONG..he waited until our defense made careless mistakes and we conceded 2 goals to finally make a sub..and it isn’t the first time he does this..this is his biggest weakness imo..he desperately needs to change this strategy asap..your team controlled the first half and all it needed were goals, so why oh why would you start a bunch of midfielders and a weak striker instead of the man who’s been the shinning star in the most recent clasicos..it just doesn’t make any sense..I know zizou is smart and he’s an amazing coach.. but sometimes his decisions leave me wondering if he truly knows what he doing….
so this begs the question..how do we fix this? where do we start?
World events analysis and opinion.
This is coming off a discussion that I cut short as the news ended a few hours ago, but it started because a news segment was about a muslim man having his passport cancelled, right? And how ‘it was a good thing’ etc etc and that ‘showing concern to these people was how WWII started with the Germans because we showed pity to them’. And I just snapped at my family that no, no, showing pity and consideration isn’t a bad thing. Fucking christ, no. And it took me ages to figure out why such a thing made me snap. And it occurred to me, that of all things, it was the comparison to WWII. Yes, the racism too, but hear me out here. I mean, it was the overall ‘all muslims are bad’ idea, and THAT combined with the comparison to WWII. because it made me ask:
Is this what Germans did pre WWII? Did they dehumanise the Jews? Did they allow themselves to believe that all the world’s troubles were caused by one religion?
And, well, yeah, they did. And that is literally what we are doing with Muslims. We are dehuminising them. Making them the enemy. Putting all of them into one group.
Which brings us to the next point.
At what point are we going to openly call it WWIII?
Because we have five massively destabilised countries, multiple other countries bombing the shit out of them, and now another foreign country (probably top three most powerful in the world) has started bombing them too, only, it’s apparently not bombing ‘the right targets’ or something. Which causes conflict not just with the country they’re bombing, but conflict with all the other countries engaged, including but not limited to: the USA, the UK, Most of Western Europe (which is also dealing with the refugees of all that war), and, to an extent, Australia, NZ, and some of the smaller countries in Asia. And what of the bigger asian countries? When will they engage? more importantly, who will they side/engage with? Who will die?
All of which, ultimately, leaves us with almost every fucking country annihilating one area, with about four sides to a war, involving all the countries all around the world. And international engagement is caused by the real fear of more attacks on another, international nations, similar to london and the us.
And it terrifies me, because it makes me ask: we learned nothing from the World Wars?
Nothing at fucking all?
There is no good and bad, there is only bad and worse. That’s what we’re dealing with. And we can’t even agree on who’s bad and who’s worse. And that’s going to get people killed. It is getting people killed. It is getting women, men, and children killed. And we are doing nothing but making it worse.
Let me make it clear though: There is No Talking or Reasoning with some of these people. There just isn’t. But it’s a scale of bad to worse. And it isn’t just the worst-worse that won’t listen to reason. It’s about worst-worse all the way to moderately bad that aren’t even thinking of talking. there is no debate happening, there is only war.
Isn’t that terrifying?
Maybe this is all paranoia talking. Maybe it’s the critical analysis of world events, of knowing how people get caught up in their own self-importance, or the self-importance of their own country, maybe it’s just that talking. Or maybe we’re seeing the beginning of the next world war, and we won’t even admit it. Maybe it’s already started.
Since I took Modern History in school I kinda had the thought that we’d see WW3 in my lifetime. For what reason? Mainly, the destabilisation in the middle east. Why? Because people think they’re religious belief is better than someone else’s. I am talking Islam and I’m also talking Christian beliefs. Because yeah, both think they’re better than the other. Like it or not, there are people in both who do. I guess just letting people be happy and going off ‘God’s house has many rooms = who cares, leave them be’ is too much to ask for and always has been, huh? Because different still = bad. Because women are things and queer people and people of other faiths and political beliefs deserve to die. Has anyone ever read the Arab Charter of Human Rights? Has anyone also noted how horrifically it violates the Bill of Rights? You know the Bill that includes the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the International Covenant on Economical, Social, and Cultural Rights? All of which have customary binding principles under which no circumstances, even ancient traditional religious grounds, can these principle human rights be violated by any country? By law. And yet it happens everyday. Cough, Saudi Arabia, anyone? Cough.
And sure, to one degree, we’ve got a generation opening its mind to possibilities, a generation that doesn’t want war and has at least an inkling of an understanding that different doesn’t automatically mean bad. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t fight. And this is where I apparently deviate from a lot of people, and it’s the part that older generations don’t believe my gen has, but it’s an understanding that there are some people who won’t stop until they’re dead, or we’re dead. There are those kinds of people, whether you want to admit it or not. There are.
Christ, I’m a queer agnostic. And a woman. That’s three levels of discrimination in some places. People who think I’m evil are wrong. But there are some people who don’t just think I’m evil, but that I should die. Those are the people we have to fight. Unfortunately, there are a lot of them. Unfortunately, they are sometimes hard to tell from others.
And that is where confusion begins. And from confusion, fear. And from fear, rage and violence. Which only equals death.
It’s a bad place to quote from, but I think I heard it in a COD game and it’s like, ‘War doesn’t tell you who’s right. It only tells you who’s left.’
And with the advent of the a bomb? There will be no one left.
And I’m terrified.
Why can’t we just live in peace?
