SUPERHEROES a bonus Gail & Holly fic out-take I just found in the archive
I just ran across this little bonus paragraph that got edited out of Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder - BUT then the scene started kicking around in my head. And this is what happened!
After a particularly rough shift…
The impact of the past few days was just starting to sink in. She knew that everyone had their own way of dealing with stress, her tended toward either getting drunk, or the uncontrollable urge to kill things on her Xbox, or both. Traci and Leo were here now, asking her questions over coffee and orange juice, so alcohol would have to wait. She sighed, at least she and Leo were settling onto the couch to kill zombies before breakfast. Chris tended to bake. And Gail was ok with that. Chris and Holly were still fussing around in the kitchen, and the aroma of bacon, and whatever Chris was baking was killing her.
“Hey Chris!” Gail said smugly, as Chris entered the living room carrying a basket of freshly baked blueberry muffins in one hand and a tray of bacon in the other, “Leo here said we, that is, you and me, are Superheroes and he wants to hear about how we escaped the burning building and came back to catch the bad guys.”
“Superheroes, huh… You mean like Batman?” Chris replied, coming over to sit next to them on the couch.
Gail immediately snatched a muffin from the basket before he even had a chance to set it down properly.
“Well, I guess that makes you Robin, because I, most definitely, am the Batman!” She said, taking a large bite of the steaming pastry.
Leo giggled, and Traci tried to hide her amusement behind a pointed glare.
“What?” Gail deadpanned, popping a stray blueberry into her mouth.
“So, if you’re Batman, what does that make me?” Holly said with a playful smile and a glint of mischief in her eye as she entered the room.
“I know!” Leo chimed in before Gail could answer, “You could be Catwoman!”
“Hmmm.. Catwoman…” Holly practically purred.
Gail felt a jolt in her solar plexus as the vision of Holly going all Michelle Pfeiffer or Halle Berry in a tight black leather outfit materialized in her mind’s eye.
“I like it!” Holly mused, as she sauntered closer.
Gail felt the bottom drop out of her stomach and her mouth go dry as Holly sat down on her lap, her muffin temporarily forgotten, dropping from her frozen fingers with a soft thud on to the coffee table. Holly arched her eyebrows with an evil smirk while removing her glasses and shaking her hair out from its ponytail in one smooth motion. She gave Gail a look that would melt a thousand year old glacier, and Gail thought her heart was going to jump from her chest.
Chris cleared his throat. Gail looked up to see him blush and look away. Holly just smiled seductively, gently tucking a finger under Gail’s chin to close her gaping mouth. She kissed Gail chastely, winked at Chris, got up, and sashayed back into the kitchen.
Traci began to snicker into her coffee, which made Chris begin to laugh with a loud snort. Gail glared at them both.
“Wow!” Leo exclaimed, “If Holly can make Gail forget about her muffin, she really does have superpowers!”
