This is where myself and two others record and preserve our journey into DIY loudspeaker design, specifically the Pluto 2.1 stereo speaker pair designed by Siegfried Linkwitz. His site is here: http://linkwitzlab.com/ The Orion speakers he has designed are considered one of the best on earth, no faint praise! However due to cost, and more importantly room size constraints, we'll have a go at the Plutos first. These are omnidirectional speakers that will perform similarly to the Orions, but at a lower SPL and will work better in a smaller room. Due to the woofer size, they also do not move as much air, although they should still hit 40hz before rolling off, and I only plan on using them for stereo music, so they should be more than sufficient for most things. The plans for the speaker, circuit boards and a test CD (should you not have access to the necessary equipment) are all available for purchase at Linkwitz Lab.
Also yes, they're made from sewer pipe. :-)
