“ maybe never getting to say goodbye is the closest you’re allowed to get to a blessing ”
“ ah.. “ vira halts, fingers gripping hard at the corners of her dress. her vision drops to the snowy ground below and something damp materialises in the corner of her eyes; just out of view. her brows twist and her face contorts and the very air she breathes becomes short. she thinks back to danchou, to the crew and of course, katalina. oh, darling katalina. it had been so many days and yet her heart yearned for katalina evermore.
Albion had been lonely, but there was always this sort of hope that transfixed vira and gave her the strength to keep moving forward. the hope that katalina would come back. that they would embrace and laugh together once more. but that.. that didn’t exist here. this was a world she came to out of her own doing, by her own hands - a mistake that cost her the very thing she loved the most. the light had dimmed from her eyes ever since. katalina didn’t exist here. danchou didn’t exist here.
here, she was truly alone.
her fingers grip tighter, and she wishes, oh, she wishes so much to return home. vira’s spent days, hours, weeks, looking, hoping and searching for a way out of this peaceful hell, with all avenues leading to naught. her heart screams and thrashes, yet her mind sinks lower and lower. the thought of not being able to say goodbye? perhaps aqua had a point - perhaps that was true, certainly, but–
that would mean accepting the fact she would never see them again and that - that terrified vira the most out of everything.
that wouldn’t be a blessing. that would be a curse.
so she bites her lip and forces the words painfully out of her throat; harsh, hoarse and sharp.
“ i’ll see them again. even if it kills me. “
