(I'm glad they aren't going on alone without a partner by their side. Yet... I miss you, friend.)

Darkrai's one woman act
Here's the change to the Darkrai plot in this au that I'd wanted to save for its own post. Along with disguising herself as Cresselia, Darkrai also visits Snow's dreams disguised as Celeste and Grovyle (probably earlier than she does as Cresselia), pretending that it's the two of them reaching out to her from some kind of afterlife. Darkrai gains Snow's trust under this guise, and though Snow does notice some small oddities with how Celeste and Grovyle are acting, she brushes them off. After all, she'd thought until now that the two of them had been completely erased from existence, and is just happy to know that they're still around in some capacity, even if their communication is now limited to dreams
It's not until meeting with “Cresselia” in Azurill's nightmare and being told that she needs to disappear that Snow notices something is wrong with the Celeste and Grovyle in her dreams, as after Snow tells them of what happened, they highly encourage her to make herself disappear to save the world. After all, the two of them had had to make a similar sacrifice. Snow finds this incredibly out of character for them, especially considering Celeste's final words to Snow before she'd disappeared had been to live for her
When Darkrai realizes this plan isn't going to work, she drops the act and attempts to get rid of Snow right then and there, with "Celeste" commanding "Grovyle" to attack Snow. Snow manages to wake up before any major harm can be done, however
After meeting the real Cresselia, Snow gets actual confirmation from her that the Celeste and Grovyle in her dreams had, in fact, been Darkrai trying to deceive her. With that, the small hope Snow had had that Celeste and Grovyle were still around after disappearing is crushed
