Do you ever think Human-turned-Pokemon are ever seen as bad omens in broader PMD?
Like think about it. Every time a major, world shaking event happens, it is always stopped by human-turned-pokemon and some other random pokemon. First the meteor, then the near planet paralysis, then an icicle making people depressed, and finally the physical incarnation of evil or something.
And there is a pattern there.
So if a lost pokemon shows up in town one day, claiming to once be a human, then there is a very high chance that within a few months, *some shit is gonna go down* and it's gonna revolve around THAT pokemon.
Hello, I'm @ifbench! This is a sideblog to talk about my Pokemon worldbuilding!
Over the past 5 years that I've been into Pokemon, I've come up with a ton of worldbuilding for both the PMD world and the mainline Pokemon world, and I'm excited to share it in a more organized manner.
You're free to send in asks about any of the worldbuilding here, or ask about worldbuilding aspects I haven't talked about yet! However, I will not be doing any worldbuilding about NSFW or post-apocalyptic topics, as they make me very uncomfortable.
All the worldbuilding here is free-use, and you're free to use them in your own works. However, if you're willing, I'd love if you could tell me if you're using my worldbuilding for anything! It always makes me happy when I can inspire people, and I'd love to see how you use my worldbuilding! However, this is purely optional. You don't have to if you don't want to.
Some common phrases from my fics' and blogs' PMD world, along with meanings and use case examples:
Defy the legends: To defy fate and take charge of your destiny.
Ex: "I defied the legends when I escaped that collapsing mystery dungeon."
Sea of time: The final part of a journey.
Ex: "We're almost home. Just the sea of time left."
This cookie is for you: A parting gift. Doesn't have to be a cookie.
Ex: "You're leaving? …well, this cookie is for you."
Icy sanctum: A sanctuary that will only make things worse for you.
Ex: "Don't go to the gambler's corner. It's an icy sanctum."
Within the sadness: The lowest point in a hero's journey, when all seems lost.
Ex: "The hero and their companions were within the sadness when the villain attacked their hometown."
And yes, each of them are from a song title from one of the 5 PMD games.
The Rite of Renaming is a means in the PMD world to change one's name. It can be done either alone, or with others. Traditionally, it's done with someone you trust very deeply, but for Pokemon without easy access to fire, a fire-type is often brought along to help with the process.
The Pokemon wishing to change their name inscribes their old name in wood, or some other flammable material. The material is then set ablaze, and when the flames completely die down, the ashes are used to write the Pokemon's new name.
However, if the ashes are blown away by the wind, or if the rite is otherwise unable to be completed, that Pokemon is stuck without a name at all.
(This contains major PMD Explorers spoilers. You have been warned.)
(This worldbuilding is also free to use! Just please credit me if you do use it.)
3000 years ago, when the PMD world was in disorder due to the appearance of the first mystery dungeons, Volcanion engineered six artifacts known as Time Gears, in order to restablize time.
They were made from a stable isotope of the same material that emera crystals are made of, and oscillate not through space, but through time.
Each Time Gear completes revolutions in a specific interval, corresponding to a unit of time. Seconds, minutes, hours, days, odds (PMD week equivalent, 9 days), and years.
Temporal Tower technically functions similar to a Time Gear, in that it rotates and completes revolutions in a specific interval. However, Temporal Tower's interval is the lifespan of the PMD universe, and as such, rotates slower than anything can detect.
When a Time Gear's rotation is interrupted, it causes time to stop in a radius around it, with the radius depending on its interval. The longer the interval, the wider the radius of the bubble in which time is stopped.
As Temporal Tower has an unimaginably large interval, the stopped time radius if it's interrupted is effectively infinite, a bubble of stopped time spreading at light speed.
This is why Temporal Tower's destruction led to the Dark Future of Explorers, where time is stopped everywhere.
However, Volcanion imagined this could happen, and had a backup plan.
Time Gears aren't shaped like gears for no reason. While not following some of the laws of thermodynamics, they still follow many mechanical principles.
There is a mechanism at the top of Temporal Tower, with slots for five Time Gears. If Temporal Tower were ever to become at risk, five of the six Time Gears could be inserted into it, and their rotation would keep Temporal Tower turning.
Animals do exist in the mainline Pokemon world! However, the vast majority of them are completely invisible to the human eye. The exact mechanics of animals and their invisibility is the topic of much scientific discourse.
Animals also exist in the PMD world, and since the world is populated by Pokemon instead of humans, animals are visible. Many animals have been domesticated by the Pokemon of the PMD world, and it's not uncommon to see Pokemon with pet cats or other animals.
Has the use of entercards become more prominent with increased accessibility overtime?
To an extent, yes!
The modern day is only about 6 years after the events of Gates to Infinity, but entercards are becoming more and more prominent as a means of travel! Recent variants can travel much farther than Umbreon and Espeon's groundbreaking prototypes, though the temporary mystery dungeons created by them still is a bit of an issue as far as accessibility is concerned. There are even rumors of an in-progress prototype of a new variant of entercards that can bridge the gap between the PMD world and the human world.
What determines which Pokémon someone becomes when summoned to the mystery dungeon world, and how does it differ from reincarnating as a Ghost-type, which the Pokédex demonstrates is also possible?
Hi! Thank you for the ask!
Typically, the new species of summoned humans is determined by a combination of the human's personality, their aura, and the current Voice of Life's personal opinion.
There are many differences between PMD summoning and ghost-type reincarnation. The PMD world is an entirely seperate world from the mainline Pokemon world, and reincarnation wouldn't normally move you to an entirely different world. Plus, reincarnation implies that the person has died, while being summoned to the PMD world has no death involved.
