Since I Saw Vienna - Tommyinnit DSMP Animatic/PMV SCRIPT
So usually for animatic projects I jump straight to Storyboarding sometimes write out a script for myself to help keep things consistent and remember how I want things to look. (It really is a lifesaver for certain projects)
Under the Cut is the Script I’ve written out for my next planned DSMP PMV (incase anyone wanted to give it a read!)
[Content warning just in case, The PMV is centered around Tommy’s current character arc in the SMP and scene where Tommy gazes into the lava pit is in the script (Nothing in the script or animation goes farther than what has happened in the SMP however.)]
Intro
- Faraway shots of the three (Tommy Ghostbur and Dream) traveling by boat and such through the rain with credits (Since I saw Vienna, Inspired by events on the Dream SMP, Song by Wilbur Soot)
- Show the dirt shack for a shot, show dream leaving
- Show a shot from the doorway of Tommy looking where Dream left, Wilbur’s old coat is in his arms (Ghostbur is out of shot or looking through a chest)
The cute bomber jacket you've had since sixth form
Adorned with patches of places you've been
- Show Tommy closer up holding Wilbur’s old jacket and looking off towards the door, he looks down to the jacket somewhere through the first line
- Show the jacket in his arms (show l’manburg patch on the arm and the hole in the back)
Is nothing on my khaki coat I got
From a roadside when I was sixteen
- Tommy reaches to touch the green bandana around his neck
- Show Tubbo and Tommy trading their bandanas in the past (Silhouetted?) ( Tommy is handing Tubbo a red bandana, Tubbo is handing Tommy a green one)
My boots are from airports
My backpack’s from friends
- Show Tommy’s tools and backpack leaned up against the stack of barrels in Logstedshire (they should both look worn and beaten)
I’m not a man of substance, and so I’ll pretend
To be a wanderer, wondering
- Show Tommy in Wil’s coat looking more tired, he’s sitting next to his own tent, Logstedshire is in the background
- On the second line show Tommy walking through the Nether
Leaving ascetic belongings in hostels and restaurant bins
- Show Tommy leaving a message for Ranboo in the nether chest
Instrumental
- Tommy and Ranboo sitting side by side in the nether, sharing a nice moment (Tommy acting out Wilbur’s talking in the song and both laughing) (Pan upwards at the end)
The roads are my home, horizon's my target
If I keep on moving, never lose sight of it
- Tommy is standing at the edge of the water, looking out over the horizon
- He looks down to his hand which is holding the compass (your Tubbo)
Treating my memory of you like a fire, let it
Burn out, don't fight it, and try to move on
- Show a picture of Tommy and Tubbo standing side by side in their l’manburg uniforms, happy
- The Picture starts with a small flame in the corner, engulfing it and eventually leaving it destroyed (The frame should be blank for “try to move on”)
It's been sixty weeks since I saw Vienna
A bandage and a wide smile slapped across my face
- Show Tommy following reluctantly behind Sapnap, Dream and Ghostbur (they’re above ground heading towards the Nether portal to see the Christmas tree)
- [Side shot] Show a faded version of Tommy from the past behind the Tommy in frame (the past has a bandage across his nose and a large mischievous smile, the present looks tired and distant)
I'll pick up my hiking boots when I am ready
And I'll put down my roots when I'm dead
- Show Tommy from the back, the other three are heading through the Nether portal that leads back to L’Manburg and the SMP
- Show a shot of Tommy looking straight at the camera, lit by the Nether portals light. He looks upset
- There is a notable sound from the guitar in the instrumentals, this hard cuts to the next frame
The distance is futile
- Similar framing from the last shot, Tommy is looking down now and instead of upset he is tired, his face is lit with the orange of lava
- Another notable sound, Tommy looks to his right but his expression doesn’t change
Come on, don't be hasty
You'll get that feeling deep inside your bones
- The first line is a close up of Dreams hand on Tommy’s shoulder
- At “get” it shows both Dream and Tommy from the side, Dream has a hand on Tommy’s shoulder and is standing behind him, Tommy is not looking at Dream but downwards. Both are on the edge of the Nether path
I'll be gone then, for when you must be alone
- “I’ll be gone then” Tommy removes Dreams hand from his shoulder
- “For when you must be” show Tommy walking away from Dream and the Nether portal (towards the camera)
- “Alone” Same shot but only Tommy’s outline is shown in white, everything else is in black and his outline fades
Outro/Ending
- Pan in from the sky, Ghostbur is sitting in Logstedshire playing guitar and Tommy is asleep next to him, Wil’s old coat is over him like a blanket and his belongings are in the background. (Ghostbur is smiling calmly and his eyes are closed)
- The final shot is of Tommy sleeping, under his arm is the photo of the Christmas tree and in his arm (attached to his neck) is the Compass.
Okay I said I was gonna post this earlier but then I got really tired and took a nap </3
Anyway uhhh I wanted to share a plan/script I wrote up for a PMV I’d like to maybe try and make with my OC Faolan and their story! Now that I’ve mostly figured out how I want to write their story, I’ve been going monkey feral thinking about them.
Now, I say I want to make this, but I did the math and this would take,,,,, about 87 drawings. Even if they’re just sketches..... hoo boy.
Okay so uhh context: Faolan is the apprentice of a mage named Everard, and their story centers around them trying to free Everard from a pact with a demon named The Collector by beating the demon at a game of cards. However, on the way they discover Everard is not the only one trapped--another person trapped is Phi, Everard’s child and former apprentice. Long story short, Everard was an incredibly shitty parent, and it’s her fault that pretty much all the spirits are trapped by the demon, including Phi and Faolan.
Content Warnings: There’s no visual depictions as this is just a script, but there are mentions of eye trauma, suicide/self harm (mainly in the lyrics themselves, though), and blood. Please tread lightly. Also there are references/implications of Everard being an abusive piece of shit.
Actual script under the cut b/c this is long </3
Song Link: [here]
Style Notes: The whole PMV should be done in a sketchy style with a limited color palette. Probably just greys with black sketching, aside from important colors, which will be noted as they appear. There will be no animation or lip-syncing, and at most a character’s mouth will be open to indicate that they are talking.
Characters: Faolan and Everard, with appearances from the others (primarily as silhouettes)
[Opening (0:00-0:05)] - As the clock ticks, open with a profile view shot of Faolan and Everard standing a few feet apart. Faolan’s shoulders are hunched and they are looking down, facing away from Everard. Everard doesn’t look deterred, though, and has a gentle smile on her face. It should be noted that Faolan looks disheveled while Everard is neat and clean.
We're finally free - Close-up shot of Everard’s smile. Her mouth is open as she speaks, and she looks relieved.
Welcome home - Same shot as previous, but Everard’s eyes fall closed and her shoulders fall a little. She looks even more relieved.
It's just you and me now - A close-up shot of Faolan’s face, mostly hidden by shadow and their hair falling in front of their eyes.
Standing alone - Zoom out to the first shot again, with an emphasis on how empty their surroundings are. They’re essentially standing in an empty void.
The world is ours - Another shot of Everard’s pleasant smile, though this time her eyes are open.
No, it isn't - Cut to a shot of Faolan’s face, the same close-up as before. Their left eye is visible now, and they look angry.
Get in the car - Back to Everard’s face. She looks taken aback and a little angry now.
This isn't finished - Back to Faolan’s face. They’ve turned to face Everard and now there’s a fire in their eyes. Their right eye is now visible and glowing blue.
What? - Final close-up on Everard’s expression, looking shocked and angry, as though she can’t believe Faolan would talk back to her.
Even though the kid's dead - A shot of a playing card held loosely in Faolan’s hand. The card depicts an elk, but it looks like the card has been torn to pieces and crudely pieced back together. The elk also looks like it’s in pain.
I'm still seeing red - A shot of Faolan’s face as they look down at the card, a confused and pained expression on their face. Their left eye is glowing blue and has trickles of a dark substance dribbling from it.
I'm just a shell of his form - A shot of Phi and Everard standing together, silhouetted against a light grey background. Even as a silhouette, Everard looks proud of herself, while Phi looks defeated.
That his innocence shed - Same shot, but in Phi’s place is a silhouette of Faolan, looking similarly defeated.
He lived a good life and he gave it to you - Everard looks unnerved but is clearly trying to dismiss Faolan. Her smile is completely gone now and her eyes are closed as she waves a hand in Faolan’s direction.
Oh, is that right? - Half-body shot of Faolan from the waist-up, sneering at Everard as they cross their arms. Their right eye is glowing blue.
You know it's not true - Faolan’s expression hardens, and they narrow their eyes even more.
Look at him showered - The playing card from earlier, featuring the elk, but now it is lying in pieces on a wooden table. Though it’s just a drawing on a card, the elk looks to be in pain.
In blood and flowers - Now the card has been repaired into the state it was in in the first shot it appeared, but the elk still looks to be in pain as it rests next to other cards depicting other animals--specifically a jackal and a boar.
Now look in my eyes - Close-up shot of Faolan’s eyes, which are both pink. This is before they receive their spectral eye. They look terrified.
She still holds the power - Same shot, but now Faolan looks resigned and tired, and their right eye has bright blue markings in the iris.
After years and tears - A silhouette shot of Phi sitting at the table, staring down at a blank playing card with tears rolling down their cheeks. The tears should be the only color against the silhouette.
And confronting his fears - Phi looks up at something off-screen, and their eyes become visible. Or, rather, their eye--their right eye is now gone, though there’s no blood or gore or anything.
He's dead on his record - Now it’s clear what Phi was looking at: The Collector is sitting across from them, represented as a cloud of shadow with four glowing blue eyes and a single hand extended towards them.
For the world to hear - Same shot as before, but Phi disappears and is replaced with Faolan, who is not a silhouette and is staring determinedly at The Collector.
And they'll all think - A shot of a framed photograph of Phi, but the glass is shattered and Phi’s face has been scratched out.
That it was suicide - A shot of Faolan holding the frame and staring down at it, their brow furrowed. A silhouette of Phi stands behind them, expression mournful.
But Christie I know - Back to the present--here’s a shot of Faolan, who is glaring at Everard with a snarl on their face.
It was you inside - A shot of Everard looking shocked at the words Faolan is saying to her, her eyes wide and her mouth turned down in a frown.
I saved him - A silhouette shot of Everard with her arm around Phi’s shoulders. The scene is in black and grey, except for the eyes and the glowing amulet around Phi’s neck.
I held him - A close-up shot of silhouette hands holding the amulet. The amulet is the only colored thing in the scene and glows red.
'Til the moment he died - As the speaker’s voice begins to distort and glitch, the shot of the hands holding the amulet changes, and now the amulet is cracked with bright red liquid leaking from it. It should look a lot like blood.
You choked him out of his own - A profile shot of Faolan yelling at Everard with tears in their eyes. Behind them is a silhouette of Phi, who stares blankly upward with tears rolling down their cheeks. The amulet is still around their neck, glowing a faint red.
Goddamn mind - The same shot as previously, but Phi seems to ‘glitch’ into the form of an elk with a too-long neck as the amulet shatters.
You promised the world to him - A shot of Everard smiling brightly towards the viewer (Phi), holding a hand out in their direction.
A goddamn lie - The shot becomes distorted and Everard becomes a silhouette, her smile growing cruel and mocking.
What do you want from me? - A profile shot of Everard looking aghast as she yells at Faolan.
Oh, look outside yourself - A profile shot of Faolan sneering at Everard, clearly sick and tired of her shit.
[Silence] - In the brief pause, Everard glares at Faolan, looking affronted and disgusted.
I won't help you take her down - Same shot, but Everard’s eyes narrow and she opens her mouth as though she is speaking.
Fine - A shot of Faolan’s face as they sneer back at Everard.
I'll do it by myself - Faolan turns away from Everard and begins walking away, cards in hand.
You don't need it - A shot of Everard calling after Faolan, trying to stop them. Her expression is frantic, desperate as she is to regain control of the situation.
Oh, I know that I need it - Faolan turns and looks back at Everard over their shoulder, still pissed and disgusted.
She's been gone for years - A shot of Everard’s face, looking almost hopeful as she continues speaking.
I know you can beat it - Everard’s eyes fall closed and she looks almost proud.
No, look in the mirror - Faolan turns fully back to face Everard, jabbing a finger into her chest as they yell at her.
You know we both fear her - A close-up shot of Faolan’s furious expression--behind them is the cloud of shadows that represents The Collector.
We're one in the same - For a moment, Faolan disappears, replaced with Phi, who is making the same expression as they yell at their mother. The Collector is still looming behind them.
We're afraid to be near her - Phi’s remaining eye falls closed and tears begin to fall down their face, but they still look angry.
We utter the name - Back to Faolan, who has turned away from Everard and taken a couple steps away from her. This is a profile shot of them, their shoulders hunched as they stare down at their hands.
With our spirits defeated - A shot of Faolan’s hands, clenched into fists. Spectral shackles appear around Faolan’s wrists for a moment, only to disappear at the word “defeated.”
But you let me kill him - Faolan whips around to face Everard again, tears flowing freely now even as they scream angrily.
You're worse than Juanita - Behind Faolan, The Collector appears once more, a cloud of shadows with glowing blue eyes.
I told you to end it - A shot of Everard facing the viewer (Faolan), her expression desperate. It seems like she’s trying to calm them down, but she knows it isn’t working. Her eyes are wide and her mouth is open slightly.
It was all for the best - Everard’s mouth opens a little wider and her eyes narrow a little.
So I have you to blame for this pain in my chest - A shot of Faolan staring directly at the viewer (Everard), a furious and pained expression on their face. Their right eye is closed and they’re holding a hand over it, dark red blood (the only color in the shot) seeping from between their fingers and down their hand.
No! - A close-up of Everard’s face in the same position, but instead of angry Everard just looks devastated and shocked. It’s as though the truth of her actions is only just settling in.
If you won't go I will - A shot of Faolan turning away from Everard, their eyes down and their expression shadowed as they stride away from him. She’s reaching after them as though to stop them, but they pay her no mind.
To avenge the lost soul I killed - A close-up shot of Everard’s face in profile view, looking stricken and suddenly regretful.
You're filling your heart up with hate - The same shot as previous, but Everard’s mouth is open to indicate that she’s speaking.
All the same (no!) - Faolan holding their head in their hands, their eyes screwed shut and expression pained. All around them are silhouettes of other spirits trapped by The Collector, reaching towards them and growing closer.
As the kid (no!) - A brief shot of silhouettes of Phi and Lycus sitting and smiling together, holding hands. Their faces are scribbled out with white.
That you just left (no!) - Everard, who is not a silhouette, suddenly appears, catching Phi and Lycus. Even as a silhouette, Everard’s expression should be furious. Phi and Lycus look terrified.
Face down on the (no!) - A close-up of Everard’s furious expression.
Pavement! (Save it!) - A shot of Faolan screaming with their head in their hands, their hair billowing around them as they’re surrounded with magical energy. The silhouettes that had been growing closer disappear.
It's time I made a statement - Faolan stands shakily, looking at one of their hands, which is holding the deck of cards. Their mouth is open as if they are speaking.
A pity the city has ruined us - Same shot, but Faolan’s eyes fall closed.
We could've fooled Hollywood - A shot of two silhouettes meant to represent Faolan and Everard, looking at each other with smiles on their faces. It’s clear this took place many years ago, as they both look much younger.
Just the two of us - A close-up shot of Faolan’s happy, smiling face in the silhouette.
But Juanita has made a fool of us - Return to the present as the shot face fades from the silhouette to the real Faolan, who looks sad, angry, and determined.
You're lost - A close-up shot of Everard as she sneers back at Faolan, trying to dismiss them, but it’s clear she’s been shaken by their words.
One, two, three, four - Flash silhouettes of the other spirits being held by The Collector, with their animal counterparts behind them. All of them are pure black aside from their eyes. In order: Lycus (the jackal, whose eyes are gold), Valentine (the dove, whose eyes are green), Nessa (the gecko, whose eyes are white), and Phi (the elk, whose eye is orange).
Is this what love is really for? - A shot of Faolan sitting at The Collector’s table, holding cards in their hand. They look battered and beaten down, and their hands are tense as they hold the cards. Still, they look determined.
Is this all I get for being yours? - A shot of the cards in Faolan’s hands, each one representing an animal. There’s a jackal, a dove, a gecko, an elk (the same card as earlier, now repaired), and a boar.
The kid in front of me in blood and gore - A profile view of the first shot, with Faolan staring ahead. In front of them is The Collector, represented once again as a cloud of shadow.
Five, six, seven, eight - Flash silhouettes of the spirits Faolan has had to battle against to save everyone. All are black and white. In order: The Artist (standing elegantly and holding a paintbrush), The Scientist (posed as though she is cackling), The Pilot (standing stiffly and at attention), and The Collector themself (represented as just a pair of hands reaching towards the viewer.)
Years put to waste for all I hate - A shot of a photograph of a young Phi being held by Everard. They both look happy and are laughing, but Phi’s face is scratched out.
They'll all know Juanita's fate - Another shot of the photograph, but it’s torn down the middle, separating Everard and Phi.
That show's about to start - A close-up shot of Faolan’s face, their spectral eye glowing blue as they stare determinedly offscreen. In one hand, they hold their deck of cards.
Don't be late - A final shot of Everard staring after them as they leave.
The rain falling after the beavers were chased away, blackclaw laying dying in the mud with a smile on his face as mosspelt, willowshine, reedwhisker, voletooth, beechfur, icewing and graymist stand beside him. Dawnflower is stretched out against his side
Once I was seven years old,
Blackkit and skykit lay yawning together beside shimmerpelt
my mama told me,
shimmerpelt leans over them, as blackkit frowns up at her
"Go make yourself some friends or you'll be lonely."
Shimmerpelt goes out of focus to show the kit squad behind her
Once I was seven years old
Blackit and skykit scramble up over their mother to join them
It was a big big world,
A wide zoom out of riverclan’s camp / territory (the barn in the distance out of focus)
but we thought we were bigger
blackpaw and skypaw standing before hailstar
Pushing each other to the limits,
The two rush into the river, water leaping up their chests
we were learning quicker
breaking into an even swim, skypaw ducking into the water
By eleven smoking herb and drinking burning liquor
Flash to riverclan’s camp and the apprentices laughing and eating
Never rich so we were out to make that steady figure
Hailstar walks past them and crookedjaw steps up to block his figure looking down at the apprentices
Once I was eleven years old.
After the rat battle, blackclaw seated in camp with his ears back
My daddy told me,
Piketooth comes to sit beside him, smiling comfortingly
"Go get yourself a wife or you'll be lonely."
Piketooth says this, nodding towards mosspelt, and blackclaw looks flustered
Once I was eleven years old
Blackclaw shrugs him off, turning to call to skyheart
I always had that dream like my daddy before me
Blackclaw standing beside heavypaw, leaning down to touch his muzzle to the apprentice’s head
So I started writing songs,
Lifts his head to gesture to the sky above himself
I started writing stories
Heavypaw looking up beside him they both have stars in their eyes
Something about that glory,
Blackclaw looking down to glance at crookedstar and timberfur off to the side
Just always seemed to bore me
Blackclaw turns his attention back to heavypaw when the apprentice leans into him
'Cause only those I really love will ever really know me
Heavypaw stands up to push his forpaws into blackclaw’s shoulders trying to get a better look at the sky
Once I was twenty years old.
Blackclaw walking up to mosspelt, heavystep at his side
My story got told
Both of them are laughing, and blackclaw looks mildly embarrassed
Before the morning sun, when life was lonely
Mosspelt stands beside blackclaw as they both look down at skyheart’s body
Once I was twenty years old
Mosspelt leans into him, and heavystep comes up with reedpaw to stand alongside
I only see my goals, I don't believe in failure
Blackclaw leading a patrol over sunning rocks, reedpaw in tow
'Cause I know the smallest voices.
Reedpaw, Hawkpaw and Mothpaw standing behind him, hissing at a thunderclan patrol
They can make it major
Reedwhisker, Hawkfrost and Mothwing standing alongside Leopardstar and Mistyfoot out of focus in the new territory
I got my boys with me at least those in favor
Blackclaw standing with his apprentices (heavystep, reedwhisker, voletooth, and beechfur) heavystep fades to a ghost and reedwhisker begins to shine with starlight
And if we don't meet before I leave,
Reedwhisker standing with duskfur and their kits, looking up
I hope I'll see you later
Blackclaw giving reedwhisker one of his nine lives
Once I was twenty years old.
Blackclaw standing on the edge of the bloodclan battle with his family, tail lashing
My story got told
Mosspelt fighting alongside blackclaw, teaming up against a bloodclan warrior
I was writing about everything I saw before me
Mosspelt joins tallpoppy and morningflower as blackclaw falls behind to watch featherpaw and stormpaw fight with dawnflower at their side
Once I was twenty years old
Dawnflower leaning into his side, as he limps away from the finished fight
Soon we'll be thirty years old,
Blackclaw and mosspelt watching riverclan during moonrise
Our songs have been sold
Dawnflower stands with her kits, laughing as they play around her
We've traveled around the world
The mountains rise up before them, and blackclaw looks determined
and we're still roaming
stormfur stands before the riverclan camp entrance
Soon we'll be thirty years old
Blackclaw looks hurt and angry standing alongside hawkfrost, turning away
I'm still learning about life
Blackclaw standing beside the stream, watching the water flow with robinkit
My woman brought children for me
Mosspelt leads icewing and willowshine across the river all of them carrying herbs
So I can sing them all my songs
Greymist pads up to sit beside them while blackclaw leans down to point something out to the kits gathering around him
And I can tell them stories
Blackclaw’s entire family gathers around him as the ageing man talks
Most of my boys are with me
Blackclaw flicks his tail around icewing’s kits, looking deeper into the water
Some are still out seeking glory
Stormfur’s face flashes in the river, mud speckled and determined
And some I had to leave behind
Skyheart and feathertail stand together in the water, their spirits shimmering
My brother I'm still sorry
Hawkfrost stands just beyond feathertail, his chest bloody
Soon I'll be sixty years old,
Blackclaw standing before leopardstar as he retires, looking tired and sad
my daddy got sixty-one
piketooth’s spirit stands alongside him for a moment before shimmering away
Remember life and then your life becomes a better one
Mosspelt brushes up against him, smiling warmly as she helps him limp back to his waiting kin
I made a man so happy when I wrote a letter once
A younger blackclaw standing beside featherpaw and stormpaw, greystripe in the distance with his back to them
I hope my children come and visit once or twice a month
Blackclaw ages back to his old age, and willowshine sits next to him grooming his ears
Soon I'll be sixty years old,
Blackclaw lays alone on the edge of riverclan’s camp watching the reeds sway
Will I think the world is cold
Dawnflower is obviously sick, as she settles beside him looking weak
Or will I have a lot of children who can warm me?
Willowshine and beechfur join them and willowshine smiles gently as she presses against dawnflower’s side, beechfur dropping down beside her
Soon I'll be sixty years old
Blackclaw lays his chin against dawnflower’s back, looking sideways as mosspelt and reedwhisker approach
Soon I'll be sixty years old,
Mosspelt settles stiffly alongside them, tucking her paws under her
Will I think the world is cold
greymist and heavystep limp towards them, injured sick and weak
Or will I have a lot of children who can warm me?
They settle down behind blackclaw, yawning as icewing, pebblefoot and voletooth trot up to meet them
Soon I'll be sixty years old
Blackclaw lifts his head and closes his eyes as the sun slips out from behind a cloud bank to bathe them
"Go make yourself some friends or you'll be lonely."
Shimmerpelt leans forward to whisper in his ear, and blackclaw opens his eyes slowly
Once I was seven years old
Mosspelt lays beside him, shoulders brushing as they watch their kin settle and begin to share tongues around them, the starclan cats becoming starker in the background
Once I was seven years old
Blackclaw lays his head on mosspelt’s paws and closes his eyes once more
((I wrote a mock MAP/PMV script for this song and the people I’ve shown it to said I should post it! so a couple of things before you read:
1. this is best read alongside the song since the tempo changes frequently but some of the stage direction is long so skimming first may also be a good idea
2. NONE OF THE LINES ARE SUNG. all names are just indication of POV to give a sense of what the lyrics are reflecting))
[intercut between post-BYDTWD Doug and pre-GLaDOS Caroline. Doug is in the process of painting his multi-mural room and Caroline is caught between dealing with Cave’s death (both the emotions and bureaucracy) and her upcoming demise]
DOUG
I’ve got a new disease in me
I've got a friend that's losing sleep
I take it hard, it's hard to take
I'm wide awake, I'm wide awake
CAROLINE
One more confession, discretion's not what I need to sell
I never needed a reason for keeping secrets from myself
And now that's just how I tell
I'm wide awake
DOUG
I'll wreck this if I have to
CAROLINE
Tell me, what good would that do?
[visuals begin hinting at Chell through murals and scattered papers]
DOUG
I'll wreck this if I have to
(I’d be so good to you)
(I’d be so good to you)
You get separated
CAROLINE
Somebody's gone,
And I don't know how
This is wrong
DOUG
And I'm so frustrated, falling behind
[that mural of the BYDTWD incident]
You were a friend of mine
I'd be so good to you
[the following repeated lines reference the facility as a whole post-incident, then GLaDOS pre-incident (possible Caroline hinting), then the whole facility pre-incident, then Chell when she was young]
DOUG
I’d be so good to you because they don't know you like I do
They don't know you like I do
They don't know you like I do
They don't know you like I do…
[which leads directly into a mural of her. as the music changes, so does the angelic painting into real Chell surviving Test Chamber 19 and making a run for GLaDOS’s lair, fighting all the way]
CHELL
There's a difference from me to them!
And the road home is paved in star-fuckers’ requiem
[she faces GLaDOS…]
I can never go, go back home again
[…and is knocked unconscious]
(Acadia is gone)
Acadia is gone
(Acadia is gone)
[immediately cut to the Curtesy Call; time passes quickly as they move through their chapters as partners]
WHEATLEY
All my indecision, all of my excess,
Don't you ever tell me I'm not loving you best!
[GLaDOS wakes up and things get tougher, Chell is visibly more abrasive and efficiency-minded]
I just need a minute, I just need a breath,
It gets very hard to drink to my continued success
[Chell presses the stalemate button]
And I
Slow down, slow
[Wheatley is in charge; Chell is pressed against the back of the lift]
It's better in the worst way,
It's getting better in the worst way
[the lift breaks. Chell wakes up to Aperture’s decaying underbelly and scours around. she appears to have a headache but her teeth are grit together, determined]
CHELL
[first part is mostly scenery]
Look around, look around
Look around, look around
Look around, look around
Look around, look around
[switch to focus on Chell]
So here's another day
I'll spend away from you,
Another night I'm on another broken avenue,
Trading in who I've been for shiny celebrity skin
I like to push it and push it
Until my luck is over
[finds lil potato GLaDOS and shoos away the bird, agrees to team up]
GLaDOS
(please just follow me)
CHELL
I wonder what you're doing
I wonder if you doubt it
I wonder how we used to ever go so long without it
[pre-recorded messages play; GLaDOS pays attention and appears to be responding excessively while Chell is distracted by both testing/getting them out and flashbacks/disassociation. GLaDOS doesn’t seem to notice]
GLaDOS
All the work to impress, charming girls out--
CHELL
(I thought you wanted me)
GLaDOS
--Of their dresses and smiling pretty and pretty
CHELL
(I thought you wanted me
please just follow me)
GLaDOS
I'm right beside you
CHELL
(what you want?
what you need?
if I burn out…)
GLaDOS
I thought you wanted me
CHELL
I'll make this perfect again!
(what you want what you need)
GLaDOS
(I thought you wanted me)
CHELL
(cross my heart, i hope to die)
If I burn out and slip away
GLaDOS
(cross my heart, i hope to die
what you want?
what you need)
CHELL
(I thought you wanted me)
GLaDOS
you're beautiful
CHELL
(please just follow me)
[shot from the beginning of The Itch, Chell and GLaDOS vs Wheatley’s first monitor]
CHELL/GLaDOS
You are—
[the test chambers begin leading them towards him]
CHELL
I've been here so very long and I could slip into you
[they reach his lair]
GLaDOS
It's so easy to come back into you
[in space, she lets go of his handle]
CHELL
I'll hide it, could I hide in you awhile?
[Chell falls unconscious and GLaDOS panics]
GLaDOS
I'm not sick of you yet, is that as good as it gets?
(and this is just a part I portray,
this is just a party I portray)
I never took you for a trip but sometimes
I don't know what you want!
I could take it
[Chell wakes up; the two share a look of begrudging respect]
CHELL
If you need to take this out on someone
[the lift rises]
GLaDOS
If this is just a part I portray
[finally, a lasting shot of Chell just outside the doorway; POV from within, seeing her silhouetted against the blinding light]
