“See I’m not drunk!”
“I’m supposed to talk to someone when I feel like using, but how do you explain that?” Mary stopped for a moment. “People don’t want to hear, that it still hurts when you’re sober. That I’m still an addict no matter how many weeks it’s been without shooting up. It’s easy to just hear I’m better, people like better. It's more manageable.”
Still Sisters || Narcissa & Andromeda
Pulling her robes tighter together she walked through Diagon Alley avoiding everyone’s gaze. The walk of shame was never enjoyable, especially when most people are aware of the rock on your finger weighing you down. Her stomach knotted itself as she thought of the reception waiting for her at home. Mrs D. Black and the whole matriarchal witches that would all so easily rip her already fading sanity to shreds. As she rushed through the crowds trying to think of the perfect excuse as to why did not come home last night, she did not see the person standing still and carelessly bumped into them. Looking up through her eyelashes to ready to apologize, she stopped mid-speech. She froze her mouth ajar as she looked up at her sisters face.

“It’s okay,” Mary whispered to herself in the mirror the pub had been filling up all night. She held a drink in her shaking hand. The laughing in her head rang again and someone banged on the bathroom door.
“C-coming,” Mary said inhaling deeply. Forcing herself away from the sink and stumbling towards the door. Just as she reached for the handle the person the other side yanked it open.
“I said I was coming,” Mary repeated.
“This better be important!”
“You’re interrupting a, very important, moment between this pudding and me?”
“I know that there might come a day when my last battle’s fought. A day I’ve given all I have and it will come to naught. A day may come where all I love is forever swept away but with sturdy friends beside me, I know that’s not today. Drink up, drink up, and raise a song to praise a hearty few. Whose wits are sharp, courage strong, whose hearts are pure and true. Raise a glass and toast to them for everyone agrees, it's better to die upon your feet than live upon your knees.”

“What do you buy a girl for her birthday? A specific one, I mean, I don’t go around giving presents to random girls.”
