Ive been listening to My vampire system [apparently its also a web novel] and although i like some aspects of it there are a lot of things that piss me off. And i dont mean the usual mc is op trope because at the very least the mc seems like a good person so him having all those powers doesn't seem like a bad thing.
Its that the author clearly cannot write good women characters. He also does this weird age gap thing all the time which is sus. He makes the women characters either weak and in need of the mc to be stronger, makes them all super sexual and in love with the mc [who he makes multiple points to mention he's a virgin], or he makes the hard work the women characters do amount to nothing because they still aren't strong enough, or of course he kills them.
I would just listen to thos story when i didnt feel like reading my other books but the last chapter was wild af. He literally had a woman get turned into a succubus and almost forced the mc[19] to have sex with her[27]. She was just turned and apparently so horny she was in pain and he had to help fix it for her. That whole scene was weird af. The mc literally said he just "helped her" with his shadow powers and he only had to give her his seed. Like i get giving your characters love interest but the way he writes women is so annoying. I started listening to it because i thought itd be a cool action fantasy but the weird harem shit gets old quick.
And its really annoying because i like the world building and details for the different alien vampire races and the cool abilities that the humans have. Mind you this is just one issue with the story. There are more but that last scene was wild af. That happened after he was fighting with his vamp friend about turning his girlfriend. Like the dude had some right of ownership to his girlfriend and he should have been consulted before she decided to get turned. The women just feel like props in the story that come and go whenever the mc needs to feel handsome or the need to kill someone to move the plot for a man to get stronger.
I've been trying to ignore it because i dont expect much when men write women characters but damn.
