Mmmm...it's the #soulstriprecordchallenge , brought to you by @kitten_e_face and @uncle_seabass ! Day 7: SEXY TIME AIR - Pocket Symphony [Virgin Records/Astralwerks, 2007] Sigh...another non-vinyl one. Ok...let's do it! Hiya...you hot mofo's, you. Despite my nature and demeanor, I don't have much in the way of "sexy" records. Not on purpose, just ends up that way. My drive is more punch, crunch, oddness and complexity in timbre and blah blah blah. I merely just don't have much. But this one definitely ranks as one of them... A dreamlike wonderland from start to finish, Pocket Symphony drips of nocturnal warm fuzzy tranquility. The record is valium on ecstasy, y'all. The tunes are otherworldly, and the singing is angelic...without ever leaving the bedroom. This can be said for a lot of AIR's music, as their nostalgic musings mixed with modern edge has always evoked sexiness (i.e. "Sexy Boy"), but this album, for me, is an excursion into another velvet world, surrounded by warm winds and a lingering feeling of aftershock. Simply put...this album is an audio refractory period. Warm fuzzies, my crushes. Warm fuzzies.
