Is it gay: yes somewhat!

Podcast wrap-up for 2018
With 2019 around the corner I figured I'd write a little podcast wrap-up for 2018!
I listened to 6 days and 18 hours of podcasts in 2018. And I skipped over 8 hours and 6 minutes of Casper mattresses and Blue Apron boxes ngl :’)
I don't completely remember what I listened to in 2018 and what I listened to earlier, but..:
My top 5 for 2018:
We Fix Space Junk
Pod to Pluto
King Falls AM
StarTripper!!
Victoriocity
I have yet to finish Victoriocity but I do love it, it just requires a bit more of my attention than other podcasts. But as for all of these: amazing. I absolutely love We Fix Space Junk, by far my favourite of the year and I binged it in no time (literally only just finished it). I love me some British humour and sci-fi. Same for Pod to Pluto (I can't wait til there are more eps out there!) and StarTripper!!, I love them so much omg (get on that already). King Falls AM I binged basically when I found out it was gay 🤷 I have feelings about it.
My all-time top 5:
Wolf 359 (and no one is surprised)
We Fix Space Junk
Wooden Overcoats
Within the Wires
The Penumbra Podcast
This all-time top 5 was hard. I'm not sure I'm happy with it. Wolf 359 is the obvious choice for first place, but the rest? Argh. I just know I love all of these, and more (EOS 10? Girl in Space? King Falls AM? The Strange Case of Starship Iris? Most of what's in my 'caught up' list, honestly).
I think season 3 of Within the Wires is definitely one of the best seasons of anything I've ever listened to. Absolutely mindblowing.
Dreamboy was a nice surprise, I had no idea what to expect but it's??? really funky??? I still love Welcome to Night Vale but in a nostalgic way (although episode 133? was some good shit)
Alice Isn't Dead ended beautifully and I love it very much. Same with The Bright Sessions.
Time Bombs was hilarious, I love it and I need to relisten it soon.
Sadly I also had to retire another podcast: The Space Ward. I supported them on Patreon for a while, but the plot just... I gave it 19 episodes and it just didn't improve and I got frustrated with it. Almost no women, just the AI and a romantic interest (who turned out to be pregnant as a plot device). A huge disappointment. I guess I got spoiled, what with all the amazing podcasts out there.
For 2019 I hope to catch up with some podcasts that I’m still halfway with... Mabel, Victoriocity and Tides specifically. And Zombies, Run! (which is not technically a podcast) because I need to get serious about running again lmao and also because it’s very very good (and there’s no way I’ll ever catch up with it). And hopefully I can continue supporting some creators on Patreon!
My complete list of podcasts is here.
pod to pluto is great because it's half "fun sci-fi comedy podcast with a wacky-but-somewhat-realistic-for-the-setting premise" and half "main character gets horribly mistreated by literally everyone she has contact with"
Currently listening to Pod to Pluto! Not my favorite ever but it's enjoyable! Very fun, the episodes all tie themselves up neatly, and the production quality is good enough I can listen in my car while driving without missing details!
Our epic #audiodrama #audiofiction #scifi #sitcom ‘Pod To Pluto’ is returning with a special new episode on Oct 30th for #WorldAudioDramaDay. We'd love you to all tell other people about the show, so they can catch up on the previous 19 episodes & join us for an amazing ending over the next few months

Pod to Pluto
[ID: Pod to Pluto logo. The interior of a space ship crowded with keyboards and equipment. In the center, a woman with long black hair, her chin propped on one hand, looks depressed and stares into the middle distance. On the computer screen behind her, a simple yellow smiley face.On a display screen above her in all caps orange letters, “Pod to Pluto”. End ID.]
I’ve listened to: Six episodes
Reason I Stopped: The woman is the main character, but all her decisions are made by men (or masculine computer programs), they make a big thing about women being able to vote, and when her boyfriend breaks up with her for a man it’s played for laughs / outrage.
Summary: Jemima is preparing to quit her job and move to the country with her boyfriend. As she’s writing her farewell speech for the company party, she gets one last assignment: a five-year mission to Pluto. The show follows what occupies her time during those five years.
Episode Warnings: Ep. 2 has a lot of screaming (as a game and then as a genuine reaction). See above for other general warnings.
Transcripts: Available on their website.
