I'm listening to the Lost Terminal podcast and the MC is like "I will keep talking, even if it kills me, (which it won't -)". And that's so based honestly. Like yeah, fair, justified, reasonable and so on.

there’s something really compelling about binge listening to a podcast that’s a few years old

watching them catch on and flourish in 2019

so they start announcing their very first live show and it goes great so they do more

and then they announce their 2020 schedule and there’s shows in april and all through the summer and they’re so excited to go see these places

and i know what’s coming but i can’t hug people in the past

it’s wild listening to them reassure us they’ll be back in a few months after we flatten the curve

like we could have had that but people suck

also you think march is crazy wait for the election and hold on to your asses

havent been keeping up since the season 1 finale idek what theyre doing these days but shoutout to the podcast tides for the main character being cast as a woman after they VERY OBVIOUSLY wrote the part with a man in mind because WOW it would have been UNBEARABLE to listen to if fred was a man! just completely unendurable!

i remember months ago when the pud puller from dork and scale trolled the my favorite murder community members on facebook and made sexual comments about them til mods locked the page down, dude talked so much shit about the podcast and its fans and called their lingo stupid. dude was bitterposting hard on twitter about how his show was around longer (practically invented true crime, i’m sure) but was recommended only after MFM in a magazine article specifically about MFM. the anger at being upstaged by women was sooo real.

...fast forward to this month, i’m listening to dork and scale again to see if it’s improved, and really it has a little bit. 

except. 

EXCEPT. 

the hack has invented a new catchphrase for those 4 minute marathon ads of his. he advises the audience multiple times in one ad: “Don’t Get Murdered.” all witty and proud of himself for this completely original catchphrase he definitely made up himself.

see the jealous douche doesn’t get that SSDGM works when MFM says it because Staying Sexy and Not Getting Murdered is a battle cry for people who grow up surrounded by grim narratives in the news and the movies and books and shows and video games and stories of people we know that tell us people just like us are the ones who get brutalized. we know the chances are very good that we can do everything right in a long, long checklist of “safety tips” and still be a victim, and the narrative says it’s just so tragic and inevitable when it happens every single day, but (and this is the important part) we say fuck that. if all we have is sass and situational awareness, then we’ll weaponize it. we will stay sexy and we will not get murdered. and if we do, we went out fighting.

this is not the dickwad’s reality. he’s some plastic dudebro trying to sell... i don’t even remember what it was. hello apron, the home toothbrush security website you can make in minutes and ship anywhere without visiting a post office. did he forget where he heard it, or is he trying to imitate something that he sees work so well for the competition?

ok im listening to mabel and anna gets on my nerves a lil bit sometimes

like the fact that she left you the house doesnt keep you there against your will

the stipulation was that you couldnt sell it for the next 10 years

you can still fuckin leave it didnt say anywhere you had to BE THERE you just OWN IT and have the MEANS to stay should you want to

like sorry she fuckin made it legal for you to be in her house instead of squatting there with no income for the forseeable future

Easily my favorite recurring goof on idle thumbs is whenever someone makes an especially terrible pun Jake immediately goes "alright everyone it's been a great podcast that we're not gonna do ever again GOODNIGHT" and I just love the commitment to the impossible character who actually hates puns
