I really enjoy the Raven, I find the storyline and all the hidden things to be interesting. The Tell-Tale-Heart has to be a close second though :3

If Abdullah came up with the term "law of assumption" and wrote the books, gave talks and more and people ignored him until Neville came, straight up copied Abdullah's words verbatim and took allll the credit... then I'd see why people would bash Neville. He would be doing what white musicians used to do all the time to black musicians, or what white people did with yoga and other Eastern and African practices. Blatant copying and dumbing down of other peoples' work and slapping a white face on it to make it more palatable to a certain audience. But that's not what happened.

I don't think it's d*ckriding to say Neville came up with the "law of assumption",or to base a lot of your understanding of the law on his books and lectures. We mention Neville because he really is the Main Guy™️ but I'm not opposed to reading William Blake or other people Neville has mentioned, it's just his resources are abundant.

And that's not to discredit the quality of his work. Even with the few limiting beliefs he had in some of his work, without him we really wouldn't have as much info in the law as we do now. That's not worshiping Neville, it's just a fact. On top of that, another benefit of Neville is that as you read his books you get so see how he developed, grew and changed with his understanding of the law. He was so dedicated to spreading the word that he left behind something truly special. He was honest, even about instances where he forgot about the law, to show that it happens sometimes and it's okay. And as I, and many of you evolve along with your understanding, it's a really lovely reminder and parallel to our own journey with the law. Neville sat and talked to anyone who would hear him and wrote books and even when he was talking about The Promise and his audience started to dwindle, he kept spreading the word because he understood that if even just one other person would truly listen, he would have made a difference. and if that person told another, all the better. You don't have to be head over heels in love with Neville to understand his impact and getting this worked up over him does nothing to help you in your journey with the law.

I'm sure Abdullah was a great teacher of the law, and I'm so grateful to him for teaching Neville. That doesn't mean you can discredit Neville on his behalf because the fact of the matter is, he didn't write all those books and give all those lectures and create and enduring connection with people alive today through his work to the extent Neville has. Abdullah was living his best life and if he wanted to write books and give lectures, he undoubtedly would have found a way to do so. but he didn't. and that's okay.

Think of the words "God is your own wonderful human imagination" and tell me whose voice you read that in. Whoever you heard, it wasn't Uncle Ab.

Lastly, praising Neville doesn't mean we're minimising the importance of Abdullah in his life or his teachings. We love Uncle Abdullah.

I'll stop here because (I will write forever if I don't) this is long enough and you get the point.
