Two very beautiful books: my English translations of The Songs of Maldoror and Lautréamont's Apocrypha, both published yesterday (12th December, 2025) by Infinity Land Press.

Together, the books contain everything Lautréamont/Ducasse ever wrote. Apocrypha includes Poesies I and Poesies II, the fragments, all of Ducasse's letters, as well as Ducasse's birth and death certificates. It also includes the only English translation of the Chant Premier, which is the first draft of the first Canto of Maldoror.

Both books are beautifully illustrated throughout with Karolina Urbaniak's full colour, full page photos and illustrations.

my hands are calloused with a midas touch; a place where blades of grass never get in

tough skin and soft hair landing

besides a soft pedalled bike

where my mother's training wheels have been lying—

for long this is the place to be

rough red on flesh of ivories

where my sweater tears are left to die

legacies are laid besides my broken hearted bike.

because they call me,

young one,

never weep when things

turn to stone.

must be one-shot stars on fair woven silk.

and i go over a hundred ransacked rhythms i keep on playing

past my pulled hairpins, is there growth?

from maryjane flaws to amethyst stones.

i burn it til my skin succumbs

to where the paint bleeds on a little girl's arms

oh mother, lost over words

she never found until

they pass through these scars

like a prayer for mercy

when silver linings breaks down—tarnished.

the first of plenty; I never know

how poison ivy grows from my ill-bitten lungs,

careful climber, circus artisan

crawling like every whim-turned-dream i clutch from a lover's perfunctory plans.

it knows of a breath worth holding back

til it stretches far beneath these

cautious dreams

with a calmer magic, i believe.

that these hands are sculpted with a midas lust

worn down by first loves that wears fast like butterfly wings on a little girls hands at summerdusk.

[carnet-spirales]

Le carnet à spirales a vu le jour il a bien longtemps. Tout a commencé par quelques mots griffonnés sur un petit carnet. Aujourd'hui, vous pouvez le trouver également sous forme de blog. Certains de ces textes sont vécus, d'autres, imaginaires. J'y parle de choses diverses, de Djibouti, d'amour, de mort, de la vie avec des mots simples. Nul besoin d'un dictionnaire pour me lire.

DE CORPS ET D’ESPRIT

Je rêve d’une résidence

dans la baie de Guanabara,

dans l’eau trouble en apparence

mais vue sur Copacabana.

J’aimerai, comme nul part ailleurs,

y regarder naîtrent les jours,

flottant sans peur, sans fleurs,

les yeux tournés vers toujours.

Laissez moi plonger

dans les eaux de Guanabara

et couler des jours heureux

dans les bras de iemanjá.

Je regarderai le ciel,

à bord du dernier bateau

et la musique sera celle

qui toujours fait vibrer Rio.

On partira vers le large,

dans l'ombre du Corcovado,

un regard vers le rivage,

avant de se jeter à l'eau.

Laissez-moi plonger

dans les eaux de Guanabara

et couler des jours heureux

dans les bras de iemanjá.

Je m’éparpillerai sans doute,

en sautant les premières vagues,

semant le passé sur la route,

sur les pas de iemanjá.

Sous un coucher de soleil,

J'y laisserai mes souvenirs

et je me retournerai

pour vous voir tous sourire.
