Oh no! Poor Eskel!! I hope those boys get a proper punishment :[ But it was nice to read about them when they were younger - and to have Geralt so openly caring <3 Thank you for writing this! And broadening my knowledge on Witcher lore! I never heard of Rennes before!!

First time I properly write about Eskel and of course I had to hurt him :(

I honestly love reading stories about baby Geralt and Eskel in Witcher training cause there’s not a lot of lore but so many possibilities!!! They are canonically so close to each other (even in appearance) and I want to write 10 000 more stories about them. Or read many other fics! I love the idea of Geralt and Eskel being very carefree with their affection and very open about caring for each other when they were growing up.

The lore on Eskel and Kaer Morhen is mostly coming from the games so it’s not technically canon but Rennes was the head of Kaer Morhen before the massacre. I couldn’t pass on including him cause it’s the name of the city where I live ^^. (weirdly there’s lots of French names, cities or others, being used in the Witcher, even in the books)

The Refugees

One last time, he turns and looks at his home. His tearful gaze says goodbye but he is not alone. He takes her hand and the little ones follow. This is a pain that is hard to swallow. They carry not only their belongings but their beliefs and their souls. Desperation drives them under the weight of heavy tolls. Their dreams have been stolen by those who've lost themselves in greed. The agony continues, the fires burn, and the innocent bleed. Their faces are stained with despair...yet their faith is enough. Somehow he forges on, with his family's strength and love. Across oceans and deserts they go in hopes of arriving at a new home. Their tearful gazes say goodbye but they are not alone.
