"Her Words Give Sprout to Both Root and Wing" was created (and sold) in 2013. The title and subsequent composition relates to a conversation I had during a crowded art reception with artist friend Silvi Alcivar. Silvi spoke beautifully about her own artwork and how her heartfelt poetry related to the delicate gold thread she had lovingly sewn throughout it. Someone took a photo of us that night while we were in mid-conversation (see next photo) and posted it on facebook. My responding comment was "..your artful words and presence seem to always simultaneously give me root and wings." And just like that, I had an idea to make what would become one of my all time favorite assemblage works. I went onto become an artist member of @sfcityartgallery and at my first exhibition with the cooperative I exhibited this piece as one in my series titled "Her Words", each a loving tribute to my talented and inspiring muse, Silvi Alcivar of @thepoetrystore.
