If you have been following me on other social media websites, you would know that I intended Pepsi Man to be my 2nd piece for #artvsartist2018. However, I felt the need to do more "finish instead of polish" pieces... not that I should skip completely on the "polish" part, just that I'd rather complete my art than leave it hanging.
So I have this idea for some time, it's a combination of recent events of a local polar bear in a zoo named Inuka, as well as my polar bear plushie that my office colleague bought for Christmas 2017. So I mashed some ideas together and painted this.

Pop Team Epic Except It's Half-Life 2
Apparently, the time I have spent during my Professional Conversion Programme for Graphic Designers at First Media Design is very fruitful. I have learnt to use Adobe Illustrator and make nice vector art for both professional and personal work.
Useful knowledge to be applied indeed.
I was doing some research on the kuso anime, "Pop Team Epic" (also known as "Poptepipic"), which is an anime series directed by Jun Aoki and Aoi Umeki, which in turn is based on a manga series written by Bukubu Okara (also known as bkub Okawa, and known for his Touhou Project comics). "Poptepipic" is well-known for its wide variety of humor that incorporates Internet memes, pop cultural references especially from video games and occasionally dark humor that contrasts starkly with its minimalist, cartoony art style. It is also well-known for its absurdist humorous approach, and could possibly be considered to be the modern-day anime equivalent of Monty Python.
However, the purpose of this vector artwork is to replicate the art style of an existing show and incorporate onto another existing property. In this case, I took something very different in tone - Half-Life 2 - and used the art style in "Poptepipic" to create this submission.
It took me over a total of 3 days effort spread across a week with work and health considerations. There's also technical considerations in which Adobe Illustrator CS6 would crash occasionally, so some effort in the past have been lost due to crashes, and have to be re-worked from those points in time.

20 Sketches 20 Days November 2017 Set 03 - 09 to 12
Well, it looks like my health issues are creeping up on me, and a combination of work and lack of time means that I am going to ink less, and focus more on things I like to draw. That also means that my subject matters are going to change a lot and vary, though I still like to make art outta video game and cartoon/comic characters. Also, I get to draw whatever I like so long as they aren’t too NSFW-ish and are generally light-hearted and/or generally well recognized. I set the standards for myself, so yeah.
09/20 - Atlas from Astro Boy (2003)
10/20 - Two Stupid Dogs (Cartoon Network)
11/20 - 3 Dog Band (Paul Rudish, Cartoon Network shorts)
12/20 - Plok (The Pickford Brothers)
Characters are copyright respective owners, I (poila) drew all these fan art here.
