Day 12: Hello! More new ink testing. I didn't shake this one as vigorously as the others so I think the consistency was slightly thin. (But last time I got so many bubbles!) Should have found a stick and stirred it up a tad more. Still a beautiful rich pink color! Love how it pops on black and white paper.

I taught an excellent Copperplate Script Workshop on the weekend. New set up, new recoding system, multiple camera angles. It will be up and available soon! During the workshop I wanted to show the students something more specific about the basic strokes and had to pull out an old handout from 2006. I wanted to see what the difference would be if I redid it with a Hunt22b and a Gillott303. Gillott 303 is the first image, then 22b, then the original. I have 17 sheets in this pack some of them dating back to 2001, 2003 & 2005. I can see bits of my 4Fold Symmetry in here but nothing substantial and certainly nothing overarching. I’ve only got secret things going on in the studio today, so I thought I’d share these sketches. These were the quick planning designs I made for the set of condolence cards I shared a little bit ago. This is pretty typical of my process. Loose pencil sketch to work out the details, then inked in line work to make things easy to transfer as needed.
