Happy Trans Awareness Week!

Here’s an update on my facial hair removal journey. I started laser back in 2015 but only for about 6 months. July 2018 Point of Pride granted me funds to afford to have electrolysis done. I’m so happy and relieved to have much less facial hair. Still have a little ways to go so I’m hoping to find someone in Portland soon! Thank you again Point of Pride. I signed up for the Point of Pride list in October of 2018 in desperation when I got canned and realized I could afford one. It was an especially low point for me and I was in one of the worst places I’ve ever been mental health wise. I did later get a very cheap binder but I have since then I’ve lost 55 pounds and it’s useless.

Point of Pride provides binders to trans and non-binary folk who aren’t in a position to get their own. Whether you have unsupportive parents or you cannot afford one, Point of Pride is here to help. You fill out a questionnaire and give them your sizes, if your size changes between the time you add your name to the list and the time they mail it you can update it. As I said though I’ve been waiting since October (ish) 2018 so it may take a while. If you’re in a position to get one by the time yours comes in you can cancel it.

Improper chest binding can lead to fractured/broken ribs, difficulty breathing, even heart attack (even at a young age). Please don’t use bandages or duct tape (!) to bind. If you can’t afford a full-price binder, try eBay or a binder recycling program like the one at Point of Pride.
