And I really don't know how to explain that if we want to achieve a post oligarch world, then there's a lot about our lifestyles that have to change first. "Don't fight the old, build the new."
What do you think that means? If we want the world to be good, we have to be willing to make it good, and that requires us to make changes.
Yes we can't solve systemic problems by just making changes as individuals, but we also can't solve systemic problems by refusing to make any changes at all to our individual lifestyles.
Big societal changes follow widespread individual changes. We have to be the change. Not for everything all at once, just for whatever we can. Any steps in the right direction help.
We really have to stop romanticizing parenthood. Parenthood is emotionally, physically, and financially burdensome
Society should be providing parents resources to lessen those burdens, but I digress. The reality is, it is hard. It is taxing in every possible way.
Absolutely no one should be having kids unless they're completely sure that they both want to and feel capable of accepting those burdens, and carry them in such a way that their children are not aware that there are any burdens at all.
No one should be coerced into parenthood. And no one should be conditioned to see parenthood as an inevitability. No one should be taught that parenthood is the key to happiness and that becoming a parent is what everyone is supposed to eventually do if they want a fulfilling life.
Parenthood should be presented like a career path. Something that's noble to pursue, but also difficult and not everyone is suited for it.
Which is not to say that anybody should be prevented from becoming a parent, but to emphasize that we shouldn't be treating parenthood like something everyone pursues.

They should invent a kind of burnout, where after you reach your limit of existential exhaustion for the third time, your health bar doubles and you transform into a bigger, stronger iteration of yourself. Like you're a nintendo boss in the final boss battle.
A frequent remark in Eat God's latest round of playtesting has been that the aggressively random nature of playsets can put the GM on the spot to figure out what's happening at a randomly drawn location when the God-eaters arrive or how two randomly drawn NPCs relate to one another. Our solution, of course, is more Big Stupid Tables.
The table on the left, Location Events, is intended to be used in a roll-twice-and-combine fashion to keep players on their toes; each entry is designed to be broadly compatible with being paired with every other entry, though some pairings may take a bit of thinking to reconcile. The tablet on the right, NPC Connections, is aimed more at one-and-done rolls, both because there may be several pairs of NPCs who need fleshing out and because many of the most fun possibilities tend to be mutually exclusive of one another. In both cases, the final rules text will encourage player participation to help the GM brainstorm what the results mean if there's any doubt.

i am begging doctors to stop telling new adderall patients to start at 20+mg. you need to be starting at around 2mg and observing what happens carefully. some people are genetically vulnerable to amphetamine psychosis yes but thats not even what im talking about, i mean the standard 30mg adult dose is too high for most adults starting out and it is absurd to blitzkrieg someone with amphetamines like that.
if you get a new adderall prescription i am medically advising you to start your first dose at 5mg or below, same for ritalin. the entire idea of medication of this type is to titrate up slowly until you hit the homeostasis of your own tolerance, genetic metabolic factors, and use case. titrating DOWN from a dose thats too high is wasteful and unpleasant and puts you at higher risk of psychosis
i posted on here a few days ago the idle thought that i wondered if prescribing physicians are all on long term adderall tolerance anyway (based on the adderall usage stats in med schools) so they think their patients should be started at higher doses and one of my pharmacy industry mutuals replied to me privately and just said “yep” so keep in mind the entire field of western medicine as it exists today is practiced by functional speed freaks and adjust your expectations
ACCEPT the higher prescription dose, build up a surplus because the shortages will get you eventually, just dont take that higher dose at home until/unless youve worked your way up from a much lower dose

One thing I'm really loving about the perspective shift between Interview with the Vampire and The Vampire Lestat is how Lestat and Louis appear in each other's narratives, through each other's eyes.
Louis sees Lestat as this primal force of nature who looks like a romance novel hero, can effortlessly control any room, is "preternaturally charming," impeccably turned out, no one can say no to him for long.
but we get in LESTAT'S head, and suddenly he has scars and a tangled mane of hair, people are constantly talking over him, he sweats, he's getting beat up and his clothes are getting destroyed in a non-sexy way, he's flailing around wildly with NO idea what he's doing, people (lestat included) think he's untalented and annoying.
And LOUIS, well. Louis clearly sees himself as uncanny, reserved, compelling but a little off-putting. He is other: cut-off from humanity, holding his emotions and relationships at arm's length.
Then we see him in The Vampire Lestat, and it's like no. This is the warmest, cutest, sexiest, coolest, most capable and most desirable man who has ever walked the face of the earth.

Every EVERY women’s studies class I’ve been in has had this problem and failed to address it.
The Bill hasn't passed yet; however it is very likely. Turkey just shut down the social media accounts of LGBT+ organizations, and quietly banned/"made not possible to see" multiple dating apps for LGBT people such as Taimi. These are small steps leading up to this. Just less than a year ago the distribution of Estrogen was made ten times harder and hormone replacement therapy laws upped the transitioning age from 18 to 21. Please speak for us.
